Fear Of The Walking Dead Renewed For Season 8

The eighth Walking Dead spin-off season will feature original star Kim Dickens.

Fear of the Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 8. The Walking Dead spin-off show's renewal comes ahead of the second half of Season 7's premiere in April next year.

As reported by Variety, Fear of the Walking Dead Season 8 will feature the show's former star Kim Dickens in a regular role. Dickens played the character of Madison Clark from Season 1 to Season 4, before seemingly dying at the end of that season. She will return to the series in the second half of Season 7, before becoming a recurring cast member in Season 8.

In a statement, Walking Dead chief content officer Scott Gimple said, "If there were a Mount Deadmore, Kim Dickens' face would be on it. Madison Clark is a foundational character to TWDU--heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence. Kim Dickens' raw talent, strength, and brilliance will electrify TWDU once more and we couldn't be luckier to have her back.”

While Fear of the Walking Dead is set to continue for at least another season, the main series is currently on its final stretch. The Walking Dead Season 11 premiered in August, with the first eight episodes running until October. The season will resume in February.

It's less certain when we'll get to see the long-in-development Walking Dead movies, focusing on Andrew Lincoln's character Rick Grimes. Earlier this year, franchise creator Robert Kirkman stated, "I don't know. It's definitely going to be before 2032. I wish there were more updates. I will say there's exciting stuff happening behind-the-scenes, and I am as frustrated as you guys are that we have not been able to reveal everything to you and talk about it non-stop."

I tried watching Fear for the first time last summer. I binged Season 1-3 like they were candy. Very enjoyable. But the show really became a slog literally as soon as Season 4 started, with the time jump and the TWD characters hopping over, and a lot of the original cast started getting picked off. Felt like it lost a lot of the special sauce that made it unique. I couldn't even finish watching season 4. Strand was still as entertaining as he was in the first 3 seasons, but that alone isn't enoough to keep me hooked.

I enjoy all of The Walking Dead franchise, so I am glad to hear of the continuation of Fear The Walking Dead. I am yet to see The World Beyond, but will do so at some point.

I am looking forward to the future series with Daryl and Carol characters as well when the final season of The Walking Dead ends. As well as the Rick Grimes movies when they finally arrive. Shame that they got delayed though.

I will be purposely watching loads of zombie movies close to the release of Dying Light 2 next year :)

Oh God, no. This series is almost deliberately terrible (save for Strand, who is comically entertaining). I am compelled to watch just about anything with zombies in it. Don't do this to me.

I actually found it in me to skip multiple seasons of this series, but fell off the wagon in season 6. Thank God "The World Beyond" was only two seasons.
