The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Has Been Delayed--Here's When To Expect It
The remake will release a month later than planned.
The Final Fantasy VII Remake for PlayStation 4 has been teased for many years now, but we'll now have to wait just a little bit longer to play it--it has been delayed from its March 3 release date. A note from producer Yoshinori Kitase says the FFVII's new release date has been set for April 10, to give the team a little extra time for finishing touches.
"We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience," Kitase said in a message from the studio. "I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer. Thank you for your patience and continued support."
The release of long-awaited remake is not actually that of the full game. Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released in episodic fashion, dividing the game up into distinct chunks. This initial one consists of the Midgar portion of the original game.
Recently the demo for the game was leaked and datamined, leading to spoilers circulating the internet. We even got to see the opening movie, a nostalgic recreation of the original 1997 classic. Square Enix has not given word regarding when the demo may be released to the public. For more on the FF7 Remake, check out everything we know so far.
This was one of two Square Enix games that announced delays almost simultaneously. The other was Marvel's Avengers, which was pushed all the way to September. It had previously been scheduled for May.
