Final Fantasy X ships in Japan
SquareSoft epic RPG finally arrives in Japan and company president Hisashi Suzuki discusses the game's shipment and sales.
At an event held in Tokyo to commemorate the launch of Final Fantasy X, Hisashi Suzuki, president of SquareSoft, revealed that leading up to its release retail stores around Japan have receive approximately 1.5 million pre-orders for the game. As expected, the company shipped a little over 2 million copies of the game to retailers on July 19. As reported previously, SquareSoft expects to sell about 4 million copies of the game in Japan and 10 million copies worldwide. No word yet on how the release of Final Fantasy X has affected PlayStation 2 sales in Japan.
