Final Fantasy XIII PC Getting 1080p Option

Square Enix to release new update in December that introduces "graphics options," including the ability to play the game in 1080p.

The PC version of Final Fantasy XIII, which launched last month with basically no graphics options whatsoever, will receive an update next month that will let you play the game in 1080p.

"The Final Fantasy XIII team have been working hard to improve your experience on Steam and we're happy to announce the following changes will be rolled out at the beginning of December," Square Enix wrote on the game's Steam page.

Changes introduced in the Final Fantasy XIII update include custom resolutions up to 1080p and unspecified "graphics options," Square Enix said.

GameSpot installed Final Fantasy XIII on PC in October and found that configurable options are limited to basic elements like difficulty, subtitles, and camera. The game is also currently locked at a maximum resolution of 720p--though a third-party plugin was released that brings the game's resolution up to 1080p.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns are also coming to PC through Steam, and are expected to launch by spring 2015.

Honestly with the work around allowing me to super sample from 4k I was already pretty happy. The update probably won't let you do that by the sounds of it.

Could care less. The game wasn't all that great to begin with. The game is worth about $10 now. Hopefully PC gamers don't have to may more then that for this game.

@DeadorRock @Warhawk613 @Link3301 Except that your party members ATB gauges aren't on the exact same timer as yours and it's ATB, so no, you're completely wrong. Turn based indicates something like the FFX CTB system in which each side takes turns. That's not at all how 13, 13-2, or LR work. Anyone who has played them and more than 1 RPG knows that. So leave.

Or maybe you are too dumb to know what ATB means, despite the fact that you literally said ATB in your own comment. ATB = active time battle. Not turns.

Then you should've said "traditional turn based" although I personally don't see a difference between "traditional turn based" and "ffxiii's take on traditional turn based". I've also been playing ff games since their inception- that being said, all FF main series releases have been "turn based" whether it's the turn base you like or not.

As said above, FFXV will be the very FIRST ff in the main series to feature real time actions. Although I believe it will still be connected with a "cool down" system similar to FF XIV or WOW if you want to think of it that way (even though FF oune came out before WOW and WOW is actually a clone of Everquest- even though some people like to say ff copied wow , which it didn't)

FFXIII was in the top sellers list of Steam for some time, and that list is based on revenue instead of units sold, so it sold a large amount of copies. Valkyrie Chronicles is doing the same right now and I bet XIII-2 will follow, specially now that they announced upcoming fixes for FFXIII.

I do love the feature list for 13-2 on steam. It features:

- Custom resolutions
- Graphic options
- 60fps

I'd rather they fixed Esc button. Lost 2 hr of gameplay because I accidentally pushed it. Also proper gamepad/controller support, so that I don't have to memorize every control before I start playing game just so I don't do something I shouldn't.

That and as Bernard978 pointed out, they are hurting and need all the help they can get. Final Fantasy may live up to the name's original meaning.
