Finally, a Game About Sentient Corn
It's an "absurdist, first-person adventure" puzzle game that takes its inspiration from Monty Python and "the funnier episodes of The X-Files."
A game starring an anthropomorphized corn stalk has been announced--and based on the the first trailer and screenshots, it certainly looks intriguing.
The game is called Maize (the Spanish word for corn), and it tells the story of "what happens when two government scientists misinterpret a memo and create sentient corn." Take a look at the trailer below.
It's described as an "absurdist, first-person adventure" puzzle game that takes its inspiration from Monty Python and "the funnier episodes of The X-Files." In the game, players will solve puzzles, meet up with "talking oddities," and harvest mysteries, whatever that means.
As a corn stalk, players explore a desolate farm to find "clues to the past. There will also be an underground research facility to explore. One of the characters players will come across is a grumpy Russian knock-off version of the Teddy Ruxpin animatronic kids' toy. We can only imagine what that will look like.
Maize is scheduled to launch this fall on PC. No gameplay footage has been released yet, but we'll definitely keep an eye on this one. For now, check out some images in the gallery below.
The game is in development at Finish Line Games, the Toronto-based studio that made Cel Damage HD.
