Firewatch Coming to Xbox One With New Features, Release Date Announced
Acclaimed open-world adventure game will be updated with two new features.
Firewatch developer Campo Santo has announced the game will be available on Xbox One from September 21. In addition to the main game there will be the "Firewatch Audio Tour," which it has said will be discussed further on September 3.
"The short version: one part scavenger hunt, one part museum tour, one part game dev workshop, mixed with a dash of inside Campo Santo goofs. We think you will like it very much," it explained in a blog post.
The Firewatch Audio Tour will be available for all players as a free update, it added, indicating those on PC will be able to experience it when it's available.
Campo Santo has also said it will also be updating the game with a new free-roam mode, in which players can "live in the Shoshone with a full day/night cycle and explore with a few hidden secrets."
In GameSpot's Firewatch review Scott Butterworth awarded it a 7/10.
"Its world is captivating, its design is clever, and its characters are among the most well-written in gaming," he said. "Though it might sound counterintuitive, the plot is in many ways secondary to the relationship you build between Henry and Delilah, and that portion of the game is truly inspired. I've already returned to Firewatch for a calming walk in the woods; I imagine I'll go back again soon to visit with Henry and Delilah."
