First campaign DLC for Total War: Rome II out next week for $15

I was so excited for Rome 2, but I still havent bought it. First I didnt want to preoder it, because of its preorder DLC. Then i didnt want to buy it day one because of its beta state. I dont support games that are not even finished when released. Now everyone is still complaining about many issues with this game. But instead of patching it right, they try to rip gamers off by selling overpriced and ridiculous DLC like that Blood & Gore stuff. This stuff should be for free! It should be in the release version of the game! Sega is heading in a very wrong direction with this series. That is very sad because Total War is one of my favourite gaming series ever!

And I dont buy Rome 2 until Sega/CA get their shit together.

Nah, will wait until on sale at steam next year with all DLC. Matrix Games has killer sale right now and filled my Rome fix with Alea Jacta Est and Birth of Rome.

It annoys me that it is using the 800,000 copies sold in 1st month as it is undeserved. But if you bought it back then and haven't played it since, go ahead! It is considerably better and you might as well get your moneys worth, since we won't be getting any of our money back and it is a rather good game.

What have we learned today?

That the Total War community still has some respect and common sense for themselves if they choose not to buy this utter crap when they still haven't fixed up Rome ll.

**** right off, CA/SEGA. You still owe me a 60 dollar value in the current steaming heap called Rome II. What makes you think I want to give you 15 more?

Yes, i am sure all sensible TW fans are jumping with joy with this announcement. It would be better if CA would have paid $15 to anyone downloading this DLC as a sign of fan appreciation due to their tireless betatesting after the game launched.

Wow, SEGA and Creative Assembly sure know how to kick fans of the Total War series when they're down... I gave these clowns a chance after the Empire debacle because Shogun 2 was a well-made game; even though I despise their DLC policy of locking down modding options so it doesn't compete with their lackluster unit and faction packs. Rome 2 launched as a pile of dung; and 6+ patches in, is still a pile of dung. Now they have the gall of trying to sell those of us who were unfortunate enough to buy this failure of a game on an 'expansion' when basic features like sieges still don't work properly?

I think the Total War series just earned itself a spot on my "buy only when 75% off on Steam *if* it's really good" list.

CA can drop dead. I waited up without sleep after preordering rome 2, waiting on the morning it activated to play a game that had been sold to us by CA. LIES send them to caeser!! Send them into the gladiatorial arena for their lies!! The game disgusts me in its brokenness as well as the removal of features such as the family tree.

Go eff yourselves CA. After you fisted me $60 on a busted game, you ask for another $3 for blood. Now $15 for a friggin campaign when the core game is still a pile of shitpiss? I'd pay that to watch someone burn CA and companies like it to the ground with their employees locked inside. I'm tired of being fucked by pubs/devs.

Oh look, Creative Assembly making us pay for more factions again, sorry but Rome 2 is hands down the worst Total War yet, why it has less features than even Rome 1 does is beyond me; hell it had even buggier release Empire: Total War which was ludicrously painful to play through at first.

It's kinda sad that what were formerly cheats (or simply just editing the .ini file to get more countries playable) you now have to pay $8-$15 for...

im pretty much done with TW atm. I cant tell who is to blame, CA or sega or both; I haven't played rome 2 since OCT and instead of fixing the main game you guys have already moved on in full business mode to make more dlc for $. only the super loyal, blind or uninformed will buy this.

i still rather wait till 2015 or w.e and get the goty/ulti edition

I never played this game, how comparable is it to Shogun 2?

well im excited for this. this is what i wanted in the first place not the entire map of Europe which is fun but i want to fight a kingdom that can field as good of armies as i can not just someone who has two to three territories but like an empire against an empire cause even on very hard the game got kinda boring after like 100 turns cause it was the same thing over and over again

The game presents itself well, this expansion is one of the things it needs, but the amount of paid content is rather depressing. Waiting for sufficient sales in Steam will take several years. Hell.

This might get me to play again. Love CA to death but honestly I didn't even finish the main campaign due to boredom and ridiculousness. They just....lied...about the game. They said battles would have gravity. They said AI would stop being retarded, would stop being suicidal, and none of the things they said have really happened even post-patch.

For example: When I exterminate a faction, and they have 1 unit left, that 1 unit needs to stop attacking 5000 man armies and then not dying off during auto-resolve. I'm really not going to play a battle map game of 20 units vs 1 unit, just to kill it off permanently.

No ofcourse no new features no more complexity no new machenics
Because mainstream does not like it according to CE and they wouldent do anything that might affect their metacritic score
So lets just add some new campaign with some new units

I am actually quite interesting in a less epic, but more historically focused Rome 2. In the main game, there are just too many factions. But I also expect more attention to details such as detailed terrain for that geographical location and specific units involved in that conflict.

The AI and graphics are terrible in Rome 2 unfortunately :P Shogun 2 was a fantastic game as well :P

Anyone seen Angry Joe's vid on this game ? I haven't played it, so I'm not sure whether the patches fixed any of the problem. But I will say that the glitch compilations I've seen on youtube are some of the funniest shit I've seen in a while.

I, urm...i really don't know what to think about this.

On the one hand, the idea of this campaign expansion sounds quite cool. It's an interesting period, and a more tightly focused campaign gives a greater chance of a better experience overall.

However, the game still is in a bad place. The siege AI is bloody awful, the ai still can't control their empires properly, the game still isn't optimised well, the agent system is kind of crappy, the political system is the most redundant feature i have ever seen in a video game, and so on.

For this expansion to be worth buying, they need to add new features, and overhaul existing ones, so that this new campaign isn't as stale as the vanilla one.

I hate this game and want my money back. this bug-ridden pile of crap is now bleeding you with more DLC. Try fixing your crappy game first?
