The Hammer Storm free update for Halo 5: Guardians is coming soon, introducing a new map, more Reqs, and the Grifball playlist, among other things, to the Xbox One shooter. Now, developer 343 Industries has shared some new information about it, beginning with the first official image of Halo 5's Grifball (below).

Grifball is only just now coming to Halo 5 because Microsoft wanted to "get it right." Some changes have been made to the fan-favorite mode, one of which is the court on which matches are played. 343 said previously that it's "unlike any Grifball court you have seen before." The teaser image above is a somewhat tight shot, so we can't really see what form the court takes.

343 is keeping more information under wraps for now, but teased that it has a "few things planned" this coming week as it relates to Grifball.

The developer also has released some images of the new Arena map, Torque. The first official screenshot is below, while some pieces of concept art are embedded in the gallery.

Additionally, 343 shared an updated (but still not complete) graphic that shows off the new Reqs coming to Halo 5 through the Hammer Storm update. You can see this graphic below.

In other Halo 5 news, 343 has introduced a new permanent "social" multiplayer playlist that includes single game modes (social CTF was one example provided), as well as variety playlists, new game types, community playlists, "and more." A playlist of this nature was requested by fans, 343 said.

Finally, 343 said it will hold a Twitch broadcast tomorrow, February 23 starting at 3 PM PST, during which the developer will show off Hammer Storm's new content. Check back later for more.

Hammer Storm will be Halo 5's fourth free update released since the game launched in October 2015. The other three were Battle of Shadow and Light (November 2015), The Cartographer's Gift (December 2015), and Infinity's Armory (January 2016). 343 has pledged to continually support Halo 5 with new free content through at least June 2016.

Beyond that, 343 is also working on Halo 6.
