First Look: Arcatera
We take a first look at Ubi Soft's Myst-like RPG adventure for the PC and Dreamcast.
GameSpot News has gotten its hands on new screenshots of Arcatera coming to the Dreamcast and PC next year. Being developed by German-based Westka Kommunikations and published by Ubi Soft, Arcatera is currently slated for a US and European release for the spring of 2000.
Arcatera looks to bring home a whole new type of survival horror. Using 2D prerendered backgrounds, you walk through ominous environments in a style similar to that of Myst. The basic story behind the game is that you are a detective with only has three weeks to foil the plans of a satanic cult penchant on destroying and killing. In your quest you'll traverse more than 100 environments and will come across more than 120 different characters.
According to Ubi Soft, the game will feature a nonlinear story offering numerous sub-plots. Look for much more Arcatera coverage on GameSpot and videogames.com soon.
