<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I love when people act all high and mighty and don't understand the whole F2P scenario or HOW IT WORKS. First and foremost, DotA and TF2 are VALVE's F2P games. They are both supported by in-game transactions like hats, keys, cosmetic items, etc. Valve also makes 80% of the tournament take in for profit for DotA tourneys. That comes out to around 10-15 million per tourney. Also, if you knew ANYTHING about how DotA used to work is that you had to PAY for premium service so you didn't end up in waiting que hell. ALSO, since they're Steam's games, Steam is hoping that by offering these games up for free that you'll be enticed to pay for other products on their service. 100+ million users can't be wrong, right?

Rift was a regularly priced game that went F2P with in game items. Tera was a full priced game that is now F2P with in game items. Aion was a full priced game that is now F2P with in game items. Also, Aion limits trading and chat unless you have a full GOLD account. Path of Exile, an excellent F2P btw, also offers in-game items. Did you know the developers already paid off the game AND the expansion because of in-game purchases? They already making hand over fist coin in Path of Exile. All because of in game items.

I'd also like to point out that Aion, Rift and Tera are P2W games. If you don't pay you don't get the full "unlock" of the game. Meaning your trade is stifled, chat isn't extensive and so on and so forth. All 3 of those games also offer P2W products on their respective pages. Buffs, boosters, etc. Those equate to P2W.

So next time you want to talk down to someone and make them seem dumb or stupid maybe YOU should do your homework and at least get a basic understanding of how F2P REALLY works. The stingiest person in the world is about the only person playing anything "free" for free. If you own 2 games in your Steam account and one of them is DotA or TF2, you've already paid for it.

Also, I forgot to mention LoL. LoL is owned by Tencent. They make millions and millions off of advertisements. Teemo skins anyone? They also are paid by sponsors for their game. Oh, and they've quadrupled their income off of in game purchase. Quadrupled. 32 million accounts and rising and, supposedly, by people in their group, around 4 million a day buy something. 4 million.

Like I said before. F2P is only "free" if you're the most adamant, stingiest person alive. Even then, someone else is PAYING for your priviledge. Don't get it twisted homie.
