First Look: SF Rush 2049
Atari plans to send gamers fifty years into the future with its latest arcade edition of San Francisco Rush.
Atari Games has given GameSpot News a first look at the next arcade version of San Francisco Rush. Titled San Francisco Rush 2049, the latest racer sends arcade-goers fifty years into the future. The premise behind the latest Rush is a rekindling of the San Francisco old gold rush spirit has caused the city to mine underground tunnels. Racers collect gold coins left behind from mining out of these tunnels. The game will feature four new tracks, each with elements that will alter with every lap.
"This release of Rush 2049 was designed to eclipse the other versions so we emphasized the features that the fans like and added many new twists to make it more competitive and exciting", says John Ray, senior producer of the San Francisco Rush series. "We've also evolved the hardware to the next generation which will deliver the fastest Rush experience to date."
San Francisco Rush 2049 will be available in arcades this August. The cabinet will feature a 27-inch monitor, force-feedback steering, adjustable seat, and more. Arcade owners will also have the ability to connect up to eight units.
