Following Troubled Launch, PS4's Ultra Street Fighter 4 Gets Another Patch

Sony releases new patch for fighting game; check out the full changelog here.

Sony has released yet another patch for the PlayStation 4 edition of Ultra Street Fighter IV, which launched last month and struggled mightily. The game's first patch was released earlier this month and fixed many annoying issues that players had reported. Today's patch clears up even more bugs, improves online match performance, and addresses additional audio issues.

You can see the full Ultra Street Fighter IV June 11 patch notes below, as published by Sony.

The issues with Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 were so severe that the Evo competitive gaming tournament has decided to hold its tournaments on Xbox 360 instead.

Even though this patch clears up many of the issues, event organizers say they won't go back to PS4.

Sony's third-party production group developed and published the game, not Capcom itself. Ultra Street Fighter IV was not released on Xbox One.

Ultra Street Fighter IV June 11 Patch Notes

  • Reduced input latency
  • Addressed matching not working correctly within the Replay Channel
  • Fixed bug where character movement SFX are replaced by ambient stage sounds
  • Improved online match performance
  • Fixed localization issue in Spanish for the control customization UI
  • Fixed bug where grey box appeared around OPTIONS in MY LIST
  • Fixed resolution "snap" between menu transitions
  • Fixed crash bug where leaving the game in Trials for extended period
  • Addressed Juri pinwheel graphical corruption
  • Added Special Titles (from Prize Codes). Note: There are no more Prize Codes, which is why the input is disabled
  • Fixed bug where Title/Icon Scroll speeds were sluggish
  • Adjusted volume of announcer compared to other sound levels
  • Overall audio balancing to correct volume levels; several corrected audio bugs

Can anyone confirm for me that most issues have been fixed? I've been waiting to buy this one until they were.

Someone needs to teach that 3rd party group that did that port a serious lesson ... how did something like that even pass inspection on the PSN Store !!

You'd think that between the bad QA from the company that ported the game, to the folks over at PSN that someone, somewhere, at some freaking point, would say ...

"hey lets fire up this bad boy and see what' what.."

smh

I did not purchase the game but I think that the gamers who did actually put out the cash for this on PSN should demand a refund giving all these these bugs that have been fixed over two patches (and lord knows if another patch is inbound).

It's clear that this game was rushed out to make it in time for the Evo tournament. Unfortunately, the gamble did not pay off. Had the game come out a few months after, it would have been virtually bug free.

How did this shit even pass QA? WTF? Hope they don't work with that 3rd PT group after this. That was some unprofessional crap.

@nesky: They used the same QA house that Ubisoft used for AC: Unity.

But in all seriousness, It's very likely that the publisher rushed the QA process to get the game out in time.

@elheber: Honestly after seeing the finished product... I'm inclined to believe there was no QA prior to release. Seriously, there's just no way.

@mesome713: it happens with pretty well every game released from every publisher these days... let's not get into discussions about mcc okay?

@Xristophoros: And what else besides that game. Last time I checked MS were doing something on a much bigger scale. They were dealing with the mp maps from 3 different games and nobody had any problems with the campaigns in those 4 games. Sony had just one fighting game and they couldnt even get that right.

@kentray1985: it doesn't matter. MCC was complete trash on multiplayer the game was unplayable for awhile online. Also the campaign even to this day has some pretty bad stutter at times not to mention the multiplayer still has a few issues. Give me a break.

@kentray1985: it is utterly irrelevant about the scope of the game. my point is, most games ship broken these days, some more than others.... besides, it only took a week for sf4 to get patched. i read elsewhere that it is running well now. at least the issues did not persist for months like drive club or mcc....

@Xristophoros: Im just playing, i think i know why they screwed it up, they rushed it for tournament release. But still, i feel bad for the fans, they were tricked. Yeah, MCC will catch no break either, people who release broken games should be shamed.

But yeah, i wont beat the dead horse, just like pointing at it, it makes me feel better.

@kentray1985: Both companies have released games with bugs. Sony had this and DriveClub, MS had MCC. 3rd party companies from all sides, especially Ubisoft have had these issues. Let's not blow anything out of proportion here. We should be on all of these guys to do better.
