For Xbox One X's Release, GameStop Will Open At Midnight

More than 2,000 stores around the US will be open at midnight on launch day.

Xbox One X releases around the world on Tuesday, and players who want to get their hands on the console right away will have a chance to pick one up at midnight from GameStop. The game retailer has announced it will host midnight launch parties at many of its stores in the US on release day.

The launch parties begin on Tuesday, November 7, at 12:01 AM ET and will take place at more than 2,000 GameStop locations across the country. Additionally, GameStop will offer an extra percentage bonus when customers trade in items toward their Xbox One X purchase; Elite members will get an extra 40%, Pro members an extra 30%, and all other customers will get 20%. Those who pre-ordered the console will also receive "up to $200 credit" when they trade in their current Xbox One toward the purchase.

This is a joke right? A midnight release of a mid cycle gen console? What new games & peripherals will you be picking up with this new console that's going to make standing in front of a store at midnight worth? None, you say? WHAT? no new games or anything? Just another console that shows which notch Geralt's belt is actually on, is it the 3rd or the 4th? Do not fret, you'll soon be able to tell for only $500. A fool, ahem, many fools and their money are soon parted. This is the equivalent of owning a DVD player and going to a midnight launch at Best Buy for a Blu Ray player. It's going to be awesome to watch The Notebook again in glorious 4k. How many facial hairs can you count on Ryan Goslings face? You SHEEPLE are helpless.

Secondly, way to add some incentives for the mindless while you're at it there, Microsoft. Buy this console and go home and play games that we released 2 years ago, thank you come again! Honestly, Xbone tries so hard to succeed at gaming but at the end of the day all you really need is just a steady release of games, a few 10/10 a lot of 7-8s and a shitload of the rest just to have the variety to please everybody. Sorry to say but Sony is doing it right by appearing to let their developers create what they envision and not what Sony thinks will be good for the brand. Just keep releasing games, Forza , Halo and Gears can only carry a torch so long.

Your comment is retarded 3 brand new games just launched last Friday 2 of which are available on the One X and COD WWII Launches this Friday so ppl would have plenty to pick up in anticipation for the One X. I mean do the games HAVE to launch on the same day as the console to be considered a launch lineup I think not. Everything you wrote was dumb as **** and completely pointless.

@xhawk27: Ummmmmmm if the current trends on pc hardware prices stay the way they are I have a feeling the PS5 will have to be either really spendy, or not much more powerful than the X1X to meet a price point.

FYI the reason the X1X can do 4k with such a small gpu is how the entire architecture of the system is designed. Microsoft really went out of its way to make sure every ounce of power was used fully. Can Sony do that? Who knows.

I olso got a ps4 last year for the exclusives but haven't used it in months since Sony's shitty update bricked my console and I cant be arsed fucking about with the thing to fix it.thing is he calls someone poor yet he only has an Xbox.nothing wrong with only owning one console but man that kid has underlying issues with when it comes to toys lol.

Just FYI when the Blu-Ray released there WERE ppl lined up at midnight looking to get one so that they could watch all their favorite movies at a full 1080p resolution with high quality visuals and audio. @Daveof89: It is all hype, all the same games on the S, get a nice 4K TV and have great upscaling that doesn't even look that different!! Trust me I've played both the S and PS4 on a very nice Sony 4K TV, and it's amazing. It's like do you really care if breasts on a girl are real or fake, or isn't it just nice to have them either way?

I feel like if you have a PC with a 1080 you probably don't need to the One X anyway I'm sure you could probably run any game out their at high settings in 4K with probably 45-50FPS so I doubt you need the X cancelling is probably a good call.

It'd be awesome if I can get it at 9:00 PST the night before, like Mario Odyssey. If I can get home quick enough the wife will still be awake to help me wire it up (I need her help with her little lady arms/hands) otherwise I'll have to wait till after dinner launch day to hook it up :(

This will likely break my single-day bandwidth consumption record, as I have a crazy number of those titles already installed on the 4TB external drive attached to the current system. (Steam Xmas sale 2015 was prev highest.) Glad I don't have caps! ;)

@Pyrosa: You can pre-download the 4K asset updates onto your external hard drive now using your existing Xbox One and then just plug it in to the XBOX One X, voila, it's all ready to go on Day One. There's no need to panic on the 7th.

You can even transfer the new files over your network from your old Xbox One to your new Xbox One X..

@lonewolf1044: I meant download bandwidth for X patches (BW doesn't have a cap here, but it's fun to watch stats for some reason).

The external USB3 drive w/all the games installed just gets unplugged from the current Xbone and gets plugged into the new X, so no complete reinstalls. The slow-assed internal system-included drive drove me crazy long ago, and is easily outpaced by a decent external. :)

@xhawk27: Remember, not every mid-gen patch is created equal. Some will be relatively small, others (like when the developer has higher resolution texture assets available) could be rather large.
