With Fortnite's latest flashback season coming to an end, it's time to look ahead to Chapter 6 Season 1, which is poised to be another major milestone for the game. Fortnite Chapter 6 will take things to a Japan-inspired island with new characters to meet, including Godzilla. Here's what you need to know about when you can play it.

Fortnite servers down - When does Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 start?

When Fortnite's servers come back up, it'll usher in the massive Chapter 6 launch. The Chapter 6 map will be extremely exciting to explore, but all we can do now is wait until Epic brings Fortnite back online. But when will that be? Typically, you can expect to see a new Fortnite season kick off between 4 AM and 10 AM PT / 7 AM and 10 AM ET on launch day--in this case, Sunday, December 1--though there have been some exceptions.

Earlier this year, for example, there was some sort of technical issue that kept the game offline until late in the evening, with Fortnite staying offline for nearly a day. But that was a very unusual situation and shouldn't be expected to be repeated often. Fortnite also went offline earlier than usual last at the end of Remix Chapter 2, so it could be back online sooner too, but it all depends on both Epic's plans and the agreeability of the patch the developer tries to deploy.

Godzilla is coming in Chapter 6 Season 1.

Once the game does return, Chapter 6 Season 1 will introduce a whole host of changes, such as a new map inspired by Japanese culture, new vehicles and weapons, and probably some new traversal abilities if past chapter launches are a sign of things to come. Of course, a new battle pass that will tie into the theme of Japan will arrive alongside all of this.
