Fortnite SMG Update Is Out; Full Patch Notes Detail What's New
Guns. Guns. Guns.
Epic Games has updated Fortnite for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile to introduce two new weapons: the Submachine Gun and the Typewriter Assault Rifle. The former is available in the Battle Royale version of the game, while the latter comes to Save the World. The Submachine Gun is available to play now, alongside all the other new content added through the Fortnite 5.0 update. The Typewriter Assault Rife, however, becomes available on July 18.
"Make enemies think twice before they push you," reads the description for the Submachine Gun, or SMG. "Run and gun with the new Submachine Gun, ideal for those intense close range battles." It comes in Common, Uncommon, and Rare forms and uses Light ammo. The Tactical SMG weapon that already existed has been sent to the Vault, joining a number of other weapons that have been temporarily removed from Battle Royale. There's no word on when it will return.
Save the World's new Typewriter Assault Rife, meanwhile, is described as a "high capacity weapon" that "takes the cake when it comes to Husk clearing." Take a look at the new Fortnite patch notes below, courtesy of Epic.
