Four More Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Games Arrive, See Them Here

Microsoft continues to add new games to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility program.

Major Nelson has announced that four titles are coming to the library today, including Bloodforge, Mars: War Logs, Gripshift, and Go! Go! Break Steady.

Bloodforge is now playable on Xbox One

In other news about Xbox One backwards compatibility, Microsoft said this week that the response to this feature has been "overwhelming." To date, users have spent more than 100 million combined hours playing backwards-compatible games on Xbox One.

Today's new additions bring the total number of titles in the backwards compatibility program to 213. Microsoft also teased that "many more" are coming in the future. We can only hope that Red Dead Redemption, which became playable on Xbox One due to an "error" earlier this year, is officially released into the program at some point.

I hate COD but but give us WAW and MW2 please. If it weren't for those games, I would've easily had a 4.0 gpa in college as an undergrad lol.

The BC game to be brought to Xbox One has to be OK'ed by the publisher, there are most likely games ready to go like Red Dead is but they don't have the publishers permission yet.

I've been playing games since forever, gaming is my # 1 activity in life and I have a 100,000+ GS on my XBL account which means I've played a lot of Xbox games. I literally have never heard of a single one of those four games until just this very moment. I had absolutely no idea they existed. I am not over exaggerating this one bit, literally 0 clue they existed.

But Kudos to the BC team for releasing games on a constant basis they'll have to get to the good games eventually mine as well get as much out as they can now. 213 games is a lot more then I was expecting a little more then a year in even though over half of them are shovelware. Not to be completely unfair I do realize most the good 360 games they've been focusing on have been for the GwG program so at least we are not only getting some quality 360 games to play on the XB1, but we're getting them free to play, so to the BC team I do give you a real non sarcastic kudos for that.

@kadaverhagga: Because they plan on bringing everything than can over? These probably barely took any tweaking to working fine with the emulator. Plus, it's not like the whole BC team was solely working on these games.

Is that so hard to understand?

@LPDisturbedHU: The point is why are they bothering bringing over shit? Just concentrate on the games they know gamers want and games that were at least scored decently. Nobody gives 2 shits about these 4 games.

@ohjtbehaaave: Because it's a BUSINESS MOVE.

What's more likely to sell, a bunch of smaller titles being put in the spot light while trickling out the big games slowly OR releasing all the big games in one load and thus destroying the hype around the BC program almost immediately AND possibly leaving us with a bunch of buggy games.

The point is they AREN'T wasting time releasing these games, because many people still own them. That's the exact tagline that Mike Ybarra used for the program.

"We won't make you pay for the games you already own."

Just because you don't care doesn't mean no one else does. I personally am excited to finally try out Bloodforge (the next time it goes on sale), but it's nice to see the list expand.

@LPDisturbedHU: These last 4 BC games reviewed really badly. I'm not against the smaller games becoming BC if they are decent games.... but most Xbox1 owners could care less about bad games becoming BC. When you look at the BC list there are way more who gives a shit games on the list than games that gamers care about on it.

Say it were free movies coming to LIVE. It's like MS is giving Jaws: The Revenge, Jaws 3-D, and Jaws 19, when all the people want is the original Jaws and maybe Jaws 2. MS is wasting a lot of time on crap nobody wants is the point.

Would you rather have all the popular games, or as most of the games released?

And again, these games probably took little to no testing in order to be added. It's not like the whole BC team was working on just these 4 games.

Plus, people were complaining a couple months ago that MS was going way too slow with releases, even when they were still releasing major hits (Dead Space, Saints Row IV, Halo Wars, Fable 3, Witcher 2, etc.), is the BC team ever allowed to win?

@LPDisturbedHU: Still not sure why they didn't just do BC like nintendo has been doing since gamecube onwards. Gamecube to wii had to be harder than 360 to xbox one. I think we can all agree that it was a business tactic used 2 years after launch to try to catch up to ps4s sales. Didn't seem to work, but none the less, a small plus for some xbox one owners. And I understand the frustration people are having. The whole point of BC is to play games you own. Doesn't sounds like anyone owns any of these games or even heard of them. So, are they trying to get you to buy them? Or fluff up their BC library? There's a reason behind every corporate decision. I'd love to know what this one was.

Sometimes we get news of awesome games now bc, other times are like this. Bloodforge Gamespot gave a 3, Mars wasn't reviewed, Gripshift got 6.5 and Go! Go! a 6. Why bother?

@waelse1: From my understanding Bloodforge has been improved a lot since it launched, but it is an MS published title (as well as one of these other games).

The point is to improve the number of games in the program, the more the better.

Wellllllllll they can boost 100 million hours, but even if only 5 million gamers used the BC feature for 20 hours (1-4 titles tops), that's 100mil there.

@fulcrvm: I think you have a better shot at Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey than the Mass Effect 2,3. EA will probably want to release a "remastered trilogy" then give access to all for free.

@chippiez: Understood. By "free" I meant like my Fallout NV and L4D 1&2 games. I popped the discs in and downloaded the titles and I can play. I already owned them for years and didn't have to pay anything new to play them through the BC. I believe like Skyrim and the Bioshock titles, anything that has any kind of popularity in voting on Xbox feedback will not join BC. Publishers will just remaster and sell again.

At this point, I think I'd rather just pay for the psnow, or 1-2 games I would maybe buy from the ps2 era. Xbox should invest their allowance in something better. It was a cool idea, and apparently people wanted it, but not these games. I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued the BC soon.

@cainetao11: It's the same price as netflix if you buy a year pass. I don't have to buy any of the games. I have a 65/4 mbps internet and live alone and it streams fine. And the games are actually good games. Don't know why people are still saying xboxs BC is free... that's like saying "if you buy the game, you can play it for free".... and you're gonna say you can't do that on ps4 and you're right. Sony was true to their word since announcing ps4. I'm just saying for people that wanna play last gen games, it's kinda stupid to keep waiting for them to be available.

@joshrmeyer: Well I'm happy for you. It streams fine when everyone else in my house is in bed and off of their tablets. Even then the sound loses sync occasionally. Actually found it streams better to my Vita then my PS4. Yeah, after recently getting L4D 1 and 2, Fallout NV I'm going to still say just because the above article has 3 little known games, I'd rather have BC free of charge and take my chances. Its called free because I already owned the three games I mentioned in this post on disc. When they hit the supported games list last month, I put the same disc I owned for years into my X1, downloaded it and can play it anytime, online or off. No need to purchase the game again or pay MS a charge to play the games I already owned.
