Free Battlefield 1 DLC Available Now On PS4/Xbox One, Here's How To Get It

Free is a nice price.

Presumably to celebrate the upcoming reveal of Battlefield V, EA giving away one of the expansion packs for 2016's Battlefield 1. The game's In the Name of the Tsar expansion, which includes a new army and six more maps, is now free on Xbox One and PS4.

You can download it from your console or queue up your download from the PlayStation and Xbox stores by following the links. The freebie does not appear to be available on PC (at least not yet).

In the Name of the Tsar, which was originally released in September 2017, adds the Russian army, six multiplayer maps, 11 new weapons, and new vehicles like the Putilov Garford armored car, among other things. It normally sells for $15 by itself, so this is a pretty nice deal.

Earlier this month, EA gave away Battlefield 1's first expansion, They Shall Not Pass, for a limited period of time. The third and fourth expansions are Turning Tides and Apocalypse, so those might go free in the upcoming weeks but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

It's not just Battlefield 1 that has free DLC available now; EA is also giving away Battlefield 4's Final Stand expansion so be sure to grab that, too.

In other news, EA has confirmed that this year's Battlefield game is called Battlefield V. It is rumoured to be set in World War II (Battlefield 1 took place in World War I), and an official announcement is expected to happen on May 23.

NOT FREE to those that PAID for PREMIUM >:-(

BF vets with Premium didn't pay to kindly give the rest of the community the maps for free, ESPECIALLY since there is not a more "current" game in the series released yet (It'd be different if BF 5 was out and gave the free DLC to BF 1 to keep it alive)

Not pre-ordering V... Prob already been there and done that anyways (re: BF 1942, yep the 1st one), but the main reason is I don't like paying for others gaming when I can barely afford it myself :-\

@blitxxx1981: same BF was the one game I could depend on getting my money's worth. Well BF1 was ridiculous 1 crate a month for meaningless unlock items ugh when did rentable server's ever show up? Great game but I got SWBF2 for $24 3 months after coming out and Titan Fall 2 for 20. Dice I'm waiting...... I heard premium doesn't exist in 5?

I hate complaining ?

@dylan35: Glad I'm NOT the only one feeling this...

I got flamed big time by similar comment in 2 other threads about this; likely from those that got the base game on sale and never got premium, I'm guessing

I have to agree about SW Battlefront; worth every penny to me; they did give us plenty of post content (even a single player expansion) and all arcade maps have bots now (lols, Battlefield USED to, though COD still does every year, lols); I never had a problem with the crates (they took the 1st ones down so quick I didn't even feel it, but the new ones really are just cosmetic-ish; wish people would quit bashing it & actually play it instead so they would see the loot boxes in SW BF were never as bad as the media & community made them out to be). Don't get me wrong: EA should've never put the boxes in SW but they did a great job of getting rid of them really quick

@blitxxx1981: I avoided SWBF series because I figured it was watered down Dice and all the loot drama... what I found was actually a really good time other than officer skins suck?? and I wish the matches lasted longer ?

@dylan35: btw; you can set the troop number or time higher in arcade mode vs bots (you can also set the AI difficulty, so they will kill you, lols; still fun bc the AI isn't bad) ;-)

@dylan35: Glad you jumped in to see it really is a snazzy game yourself, despite the bad rep :-)

I'll admit 2015s SW BF was a joke, lols but I like what BFII has turned in to; I'll play against the bots for years like I used to do with the 2005 BFII :-P
