Free EU PS Plus Games For PS4, PS3, And Vita Announced For September 2017

Bonus games!

Update: This story originally stated that the EU PS Plus games were different to the US's free games for September 2017. However, it appears the wrong games were initially announced for North America, and now both regions will receive the same games--those originally announced for Europe only, with the exception of Strike Vector Ex, which European players will not get. Original story follows.

It's almost September, which means that PS Plus subscribers can expect a new batch of free games soon. Today, Sony revealed the crop of titles that European PS Plus members will be able to download starting next week for PS4, PS3, and Vita.

September is a particularly good month for subscribers, because it includes eight free games instead of the usual six. There's still the normal lineup of two games for each PlayStation console, but Sony is also giving away a couple of bonus games--Rigs for PSVR and That's You! for PS4, the latter of which has been available for free throughout July and August.

The rest of the lineup is headlined by open-world action game Infamous: Second Son on PS4. In addition, PS4 players can grab the fantastic RPG Child of Light. PS3 owners, meanwhile, can snag Truck Racer and Handball 16. Finally, We Are Doomed and the hilarious pigeon-dating sim Hatoful Boyfriend are free for Vita; both of these titles are cross-buy on PS4.

The new selection of free games will be available starting on September 5; you can still grab August's free games until then. This month's rotation includes Just Cause 3 and Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry.

Hmm. I remember Child of Light and Second Son being on PS+ in 2015. Is it normal to repeat the same games on plus?

@timemasheen: I believe you may be getting both of this month's games crossed with one game: Infamous: First Light.

@rawkstar007: Yes First Light was free in January 2015 and Child of Light was released around the same time. I remember because i got Child of Light in December 2014 and then First Light a few days later via Ps+.

I already own second son. Same shit this month again. I better stop buy anything for a while and finish the games that I already own. I'm interested in Child of Light though. I remember it has an artistic visual and gameplay.

Sony need to do something to reason why the price hike at the moment the downloads are slow and the store is also slow when doing anything for me, so far I have been happy with the games they've given us except Just Cause 3 that's a buggy mess but blame Avalanche for that mess.

@Dav_id83: I agree that it is buggy. I finished the pc version and that is also quite buggy.

@Dav_id83: JC3 isn't buggy, it just runs bad on the PS4. It's a great game otherwise. Avalanche did their best to make such a game (a cpu-heavy game with its giant open world and tons of physics and alpha-effects that is) work on a weak-a$$ CPU like the Jaguar in the PS4 is, but everything has it's limits.

@Berserk8989: The XBone uses the Jaguar too, the XBone clock is only 0.15 higher. No way are they pushing the PS4 to its limits at this point so the XBone only has so little processing power left. iFixit which looked at the internals of the PS4 also found an extra low power processor for some background tasks, while apparently the XBone uses its normal processor for everything and they both do things in the background automatically. This could also explain why the PS4 is slower at downloading. Avalanche didn't do a good job and its not the first time, unless you want to attack Nvidia as well over buggy JC2.

Good month despite me owning Infamous and Child of Light. A free PS VR game is a nice bonus and, if they offer them more often, might persuade more people to invest it which is a win win scenario. (The more who purchase the better likelihood of more and better games and Sony also profit.)

The last 5 months or so were f*cking amazing and now Infamous and Child of Light... Just wow! Totally worth the 40 and 35€ I've paid so far for two yearly subs. I'm a bit pissed of course, that the official PS+ price goes up in septermber by 10€, but if the monthly line-ups will always (or at least most of the time) be that good as in the last time, I'm fine with it!

@doublem-k: That's one game in your opinion. Both PS4 main offerings are highly thought of and reviewed as a high scoring game. Go and check metacritic if you don't believe me.

@everson_rm: I agree Infamous SS is a good game both in graphics and fluidity but it gets repetitive fast and lasts that way until the very ending. even the stand alone first light didn't do good in the matter. I can't wait to play Child of Light though!
