FX Finally Fixes Y: The Last Man Adaptation TV Show Title

When it was announced that FX would be adapting Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's beloved comic book series Y: The Last Man, there was a caveat. The network, which is now owned by Disney, was developing the project under the name Y--a confusing title and one that didn't necessarily say anything about the show. Then, in January, FX Networks and FX Productions chairman John Landgraf noted that Y was an "informal" title for the series. "It's informally called Y, but we have not gone through the process of figuring out exactly how to market it," he said at the time.

Now, the title has changed. FX has confirmed to GameSpot that the series will officially be called Y: The Last Man. The new title was first hinted at when the network tweeted its upcoming slate of productions and listed it by the same name as the comic.

What remains to be seen is when viewers can expect it. In its Twitter thread, FX noted that the shows on the list were its original programming slate through 2021. However, production remains shut down on most TV shows around the world due to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Y: The Last Man is set in a future where all male mammals have died from a plague--save for one human man and his pet monkey. The series will star Diane Lane as Senator Jennifer Brown, the mother of the world's only surviving man. Eliza Clark (Animal Kingdom, The Killing) will serve as showrunner.

In addition to revealing the new name for Y: The Last Man, FX also announced that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed for a record-breaking fifteenth season.
