Stop these arguments about nothing. This page is nog about which game is better, or who is right. It's about Blizzcon. So let's keep it that way.

All we said and if you learn to read before posting is the similarities between the 2 franchise brings up some borrowing issues. Nobody said one was better then another. High five! @vk16 You obviously haven't heard of Command and Conquer... Or for that matter, Half Life, or Total Annihilation, or Dawn of War. Offense as a defense can be countered with an army of high-quality defense lines, so I am not the best, neither am I the worse, i'm a compotent strategise that can take you down, probably just not out. Speaking as a universalist, I like all games, or all types, but to call Blizzard games the best, and most original sort of makes you come off as a fanboy, which I believe somewhere in this post you outlandishly claimed, contradictory of what you are saying and doing. Starcraft has a big audience, but so does Total Annihilation, Command and Conquer, etc. Diablo can go toe-to-toe with Planetside. World of Warcraft could be beaten by Guild Wars, only because of free online play, i've never played it, but regardless. @sammoth Now the fight ends... High Five.

Seeming that you keep twisting this coversation to fit the way you feel then accepting people opinions on SC,WOW, and other Blizzard type games. well , maybe orcs like similar, but in all games orc's are fat, green and stupid...

Races in all games are almost the same, there already was races like orc's in the movies,books,comic's and etc. before StarCraft and Warhammer came out. And as far as I know Orc's And Humans came out earlier than the fist Warhammer game. And also I'd like to say that Warcraft races aren't based on Warhammer , I've played W40k DOW and I haven't seen any similar units

lol why are people even saying stuff like, "you're not good at any blizz games" lol blizz games are made for all ages and are very easy to play. Wow is completely gear and class based, and the gear is all about time spent (alot of time) which isn't impressive when you see people with the best gear cuz you know they live on the game. Wow is just a time sink with horrible pvp. Also, starcraft is original? well I'm not sure but doesn't it seem alot like Warhammer 40k? warcraft art and races is based of Warhammer. Diablo is summed up by saying "click click click click...."

@vk16 Again shooting off on not what was being discussed. Look man We where just posting on waht are facts and sorry if I offended your Fanboy attitude but, you really need to understand what the conversation is about. You keep saying SC is the best RTS ever. That is Opinion just like what mine and Mackey12345 is an opinion. Again I will state that we never said SC was horrible so please stop defending it. All we did say is it not the first RTS with the same type of gameplay. Keep in mind you where the one who had to say something about what we said. I know I wouldn't want to hurt your feeling on how much you love SC.

@mackey12345 blizzard games aren't known for being wildly original (eg. the success of the SEQUEL Diablo 2). They are also not known for their extreme individual challenge (WoW being simplistic in nature). Blizzard games are known for their REFINEMENT and attention to detail. Their games can be played at any level in multilayer regards too. The level of competitiveness you can find at the lvl 92 HC Diablo 2 chars, the MASSIVE Korean Starcraft tournaments, the enormous hoards of people all together in WoW, make for some of the most memorable and enjoable moments in gaming.

Dude since u admit u are not that great at Blizz games I understand why you would say that Turtle comment. Pro players in Sc use offense as a defense. And i Played all those games and SC is still #1 in my books.

@Sammoth How did you know? :) You know... Coming to think of this whole post, I believe this was a bad idea to create this blog of the convention, I mean, it's a bloody warzone in here and you know it. @Hauteon It's interesting, but so is Supreme Commander, Dawn of War, and Sins of a Solar Empire. Personally on my part, all RTS games interest me for different reasons, may it be the way you need to strategise, or may be it's the story... On Starcraft, the story drew me to it, not the gameplay, suffice to say, all our opinions vary greatly, I don't want a fight to spark between us, I respect your opinion, really, i'm just commenting on your opinion. @vk16 I've played quite a few blizzard games, not many aside from Starcraft interested me, Warcraft is fun, but I play with friends, not online. WOW isn't great, played it, and wasn't a big fan. Ok, I suck at blizz games, but I don't hate them, I just don't find them too enticing to play. Starcraft isn't the most original game out there, there are plenty of very original titles, take Warhammer 40k, that's fairly original, and the gameplay along with it took a huge risk, but paid off. The first command and conquer was very orignal, for all we know, Starcraft took inspiration from C&C because it came out 3 years before it, you or I don't know. Maybe Total Annihilation was an influence on Starcraft, came out 1 year before it. Don't just go about saying that it's the most original unless you can back it up with some evidence. I'm kind of shocked you said Dawn of War was horrible, how can you say that? Did you play it? Dawn of War was one of the many RTS that took a big risk in not letting people turtle up, it's all about frontline combat, taking points, not about turtling up and waiting for people to come to you. It was the first refreshing changes of pace for the RTS world. @Genralbold Well... If you think about it, in SupCom, experimental units took alot of resources, but it was worth in the end was it not? :)

I don't see why you are all arguing over this topic... All games originate from somewhere... If you enjoy a game then play it, if not then let it be...NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE WHAT YOU DO, GET OVER YOURSELF... good day to all...

@vk16 If you learn to read what people posted before shooting off your mouth you would of understood the conversation going on here. Nobody said Blizzard sucked first off. Second off the discussion was about them borrowing ideas from other areas including the time when they worked together Pre-Warcraft era. Starcraft is about as orginal as your comments with no facts to back it up. Good one.

@ Hauteon Dont listen to these nobodies they are just pissed they are not good in any blizz game. P.S. Orc n Humans Sound like LOTR to me Do your research before u start saying who ripped who off. If blizz ripped anything off they would go under a huge law suite. Orc and Human ordeal was always there. if anything your Grand daddy and mommy should sue blizzard for taking their bead time stories and making it a game. And STARCRAFT IS TOTALLY ORIGINAL UNIT TYPES AND RACES SO eat that WARHAMMER LOVERS.

Anyone saying Star Craft is bad is a total noob. I played all blizz games each one for a very long time. I played all that other nonsense u guys are talking about i lost interest in the first hour of game play. Anything non blizzard is terrible and repetitive. Stop crying thinking SC is a boring game, U find it boring because u cant handle a Korean player and get owned on python or LT because u cant micro manage 2 resources.

I've tried a lot of strategy games , including those you mentioned , I don't know why, but Starcraft was was the most interesting that's why I call it the best.. BTW I'm not WOW fan :D

@Genralbold I think Relic wanted to take it back to the Old Table top version or 40k but, some people did not like the changes. In the tabletop a hero unit was devestating to an smaller units as it should be. They are Hero Untis. Also the ubnits where not full batallions usally about 30 men tops and a few Hero or special units. The tabletop did not have resource gathering so it was a waste of time in DOW1. Don't get me wrong I love DOW1 and DOW2 but, I was never a fan of gathering resources. Its a RTS war game not a sim. Some games it works with but, some games it don't. A lot of fans did not like the changes in DOW2 but, I think it was all for the better to be honest but, thats my opinion.

i have played RTS games since i was 4!!! (give or take) i never even tried starcraft and i certainly will not try starcraft 2 because it looks like graphics from warcraft 3!!! although some will argure grahpics arent everything yes you are right if you feel a tie to the game in question but i do not. one thing i have learned from playing warcraft 3 and blizzard games is that a hero unit can kill a entire army. the concept of a single unit wiping out a entire force is stupid! there are far too many games in RTSes that believe its a good idea to create 1 SUPER ELITE ULTRA! SPECIAL! UNIT! that can kill most things in 2 hits or shots. examples of this are: RA3 DOW2 LOTR BFME 1 LOTR BFME 2 supcom did a sort of same thing but those units took at least 10mins to build and huge amounts of resources! i have no doubt that starcraft will do the same. relic use to be my favourite developers until they released dow 2 where your allowed about 30men! thats your army! 30men! dont get my wrong campain idea clever and amazing graphics amazing but 30men or 14 and 1 tank. all because they are trying to get people who do not have the ability to handle 100men! (dow 1) to play the game i wait for response.

@Sammoth I agree, Starcraft wasn't the best, but it was certainly the most popular, along with C&C. How can you really say Starcraft was the best RTS out there? It's popular, but certainly not the best, it just does everything and RTS should do well. What about Total Annilation? That was definately a great RTS that still has a huge following... Relic did some fantastic ones, Dawn of War and Company of Heroes for example... Stardock/Iron Clad's Sins of a Solar Empire did a very good RTS... I could name a bunch of RTS that could go against Starcraft on equal terms. You claim that games steal there ideas, ok... When did Starcraft use Naval combat? Did Starcraft event the concept of little to no basebuilding? Nope, Did they build the idea behind Giant battlefields with lots of units on screen? Like Supreme commander no... Sins of a Solar Empire unoriginal because they used space as their setting? So you mean Sins is unoriginal because Starcraft uses space as their setting ok... Please, if your gonna argue, please back it up with some meanful evidence, and perhaps with a better opening statement, their are alot of games that are inspired by Starcraft, but their take is probably much more different, may it be gameplay, story, etc.

@Hauteon You back again. Starcraft was not the best strategy game ever and was not the first to develop the build and swarm strategy type game. It was just popular. There are tons of games that have used this type of gameplay. Such as Age Of Empires and C&C. If anyone who has broken a bit away from this type of gameplay it is Relic. Relic broke away with with Company of Heros and DOW2 with use the base same gameplay but, not the needless building aspect of the game. There is no denying that Blizzard does make good games.Blizzard generates a lot of hype and fanboys since the release of WOW. This artical is proof of that. Crap im a big Diablo fan so I am looking foward to 3. The problem is you are argueing wth nothing to back it up. All we are saying is there not so original and a few ideas have been borrowed from other areas based on some facts.

It doesn't matter what you, warhammer fans say , that doesn't change the fact that StarCraft was the best strategy game , and you cannot say that Blizzard ripped-off that as well... Nothing can match its gameplay , that's the most important . Maybe Blizzard once used to rip-off something from somewhere ,but now other developers are ripping off their ideas. and why do you say that they ripped-off warhammer ? maybe they ripped-off ideas from the same place warhammer developers did?

It is a blatent ripoff of the Space Marines but on the other hand the Protoss were an original idea I far as I can see." The protoss really aren't that original. They're like an Eldar/Tau hybrid. And yes, I realize that the Tau are fairly recent. So maybe Games Workshop decided that it was time for them to borrow from SC :P
