Gamestock 2001: First look: NFL Fever
Microsoft unveils the first Xbox football game at its Gamestock show in Seattle.
No console is complete without a first-rate football title, and Microsoft seems well aware of this. Today at Gamestock, Microsoft announced its Xbox football title, NFL Fever 2002. The game will not only have all 31 NFL franchises and their respective stadiums, but it will also include a dynasty mode, where players will be able to play through multiple seasons and unlock Super Bowl champion teams as well as an all-time challenge mode, where players will be able to play against the greatest Super Bowl teams of all time.
Graphically, the game promises incredible depth. The player models will reflect their real-life counterparts, from general size and shape to facial details. Their accessories include gloves, wristbands, facemasks, taped fingers, QB play sheets, shoes, spats, and pads. Real-time lighting effects will allow for stadium shadows, dramatic day and night games, and reflection off players' helmets. The game will also feature a library of motion-captured movement to produce a new level of realism in player movement. NFL Fever 2002 is slated for a fall 2001 release.
