GameStop digital executive leaves
Retailer's general manager of digital distribution Steve Nix departs company for position at investment firm.
GameStop general manager of digital distribution Steve Nix has left the retailer. The two-year company employee confirmed his departure with Games Industry International today, revealing that he left the game company for a position at Dallas Venture Partners.
Nix told the site that he is working on more than one unannounced project with the firm and teased that he is "not leaving the gaming space." Details about his future endeavors will come to light "soon," he said.
Prior to joining GameStop in February 2011, Nix was director of business development and director of digital platforms at Doom studio id Software.
Nix leaves GameStop at a time when the company's digital business is booming. The retailer reported at the end of March that digital sales jumped 60.3 percent during its latest quarter. GameStop will report earnings for its first quarter ended May 4 later this month.
A GameStop representative was not immediately available to comment on how Nix's departure will affect the retailer's digital efforts moving forward.
