GameStop raises price of PlayStation 4 Camera

GameStop has raised the price of the PlayStation 4 Camera, which is proving difficult to find at most major retailers. The retailer is now selling the accessory for $70, a full $10 above its normal $60 asking price.

We've reached out to a representative for the Grapevine, Texas company for comment or clarification on the price hike, but have not heard back. The price increase was first reported by Polygon.

The PlayStation 4 Camera is currently sold-out at Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy. You can buy the peripheral at Amazon, but you'll need to go through a third-party reseller which will charge you upwards of $99. The PlayStation 4 Camera is even sold out on Sony's official website.

Of course, it's possible that GameStop's PlayStation 4 Camera product page features incorrect pricing as the result of a simple mistake, but it's also conceivable that GameStop intentionally raised the price as a reaction to supply and demand.

It wouldn't be the first time GameStop raised the price on rare items, as the retailer also did so for Wii games like Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade Chronicles. Prices for those games have since been reset to normal levels.
