Comments

GameSpot News has received official word that Bill Gates, chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft, will deliver opening remarks at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose. According to a PR firm representing the GDC event, Gates is expected to comment on Microsoft's "ongoing commitment to the entertainment market." This ongoing commitment includes the oft-rumored Microsoft X-Box console, which we have learned is likely to be revealed during the Gates presentation.

"Having someone of Mr. Gates' stature in the technology world share ideas with the people behind tomorrow's games is a significant industry milestone," said Dara Gray, Associate Director of the GDC and GAMEXecutive conferences. "Developers come to GDC to review industry innovations that will lead to better games."

The Game Developers Conference will run from March 8-12 and will take place at the San Jose Convention Center. The keynote speech from Gates will happen on March 10. Other speakers will include representatives from Sony Computer Entertainment, Lucasfilm, and Sega of America.
