After sitting in development hell for nearly 20 years, the Gemini Man, a concept by American screenwriter Darren Lemke (Shazam!, Shrek Forever After), will finally see light. The sci-fi action flick starring award-winning actor Will Smith (Bright, Suicide Squad) got an official trailer showing a young Smith battling against himself.

The trailer, which announces an October 11 release date, sees a tired Will Smith looking to leave his career as a hired assassin. As he searches for an exit, an organization clones Smith because he's a one of a kind, uniquely trained, high-level assassin. What follows is a meeting with the uncanny, a plethora of mind games, lots of explosions, and plenty of tears. You can watch the full trailer below.

Now Playing: Gemini Man - Official Trailer

Alongside Smith, the movie will also feature Benedict Wong (Annihilation, Doctor Strange), Clive Owen (Anon, Last Knights), Douglas Hodge (Black Mirror, Red Sparrow), Linda Emond (The Big Sick, The Professor), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Swiss Army Man), and Theodora Miranne (The Blacklist: Redemption, The Night Before). Alexandra Szucs (Berlin Station, Mars) will also make an appearance.

Will Smith has chosen to not reprise his role as Deadshot in James Gunn's forthcoming The Suicide Squad "total reboot." Idris Elba was rumored to fill the role, but it's since been reported that The Suicide Squad has dropped Deadshot altogether. Smith is also playing the Genie in Guy Ritchie's upcoming Aladdin, which is currently scheduled for a late-May release.

Gemini Man is slated to hit theatres on October 11, 2019.
