Get A Free Game When You Buy An Xbox One X Right Now

Get the system and a free X-enhanced game for $500.

40 Comments

The year is still young, and the Xbox One X is still a fairly new system, but we've already seen a few nice deals on the console in 2018. If you haven't already picked one up, now is as good a time as any, as you can grab a free select game--and the choices are solid.

Right now, Best Buy is throwing in one of eight games when you buy an Xbox One X at its regular price of $500. These are all full-priced, $60 games, although a selection of them are currently on sale for less, which may impact your decision. Your choices include Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Destiny 2, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Call of Duty: WWII, Madden NFL 18, Forza Motorsport 7, Assassin's Creed Origins, and NBA 2K18.

Now Playing: Is Xbox One X For You? - The Lobby

All eight are Xbox One X-enhanced games. While the system provides improvements with everything you play on it, certain games have received updates that allow them to more fully utilize the console's additional horsepower. The specific ways in which that power is used varies from game to game and can include support for up to 4K resolution, improved framerates, and faster load times.

This offer is available through Best Buy's website right now and requires the items to be in stock, so you may want to act quickly in case the game you want sells out. The full offer details are available here.

One important thing prospective Xbox One owners may want to be aware of is the recent news involving Xbox Game Pass. The Netflix-style service, which allows subscribers to download and play games from its library as much as they want, will soon be home to all future first-party exclusives. In other words, games like Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 will be available right at launch for those who subscribe to Game Pass.

Some links to supporting retailers are automatically made into affiliate links, and GameSpot may receive a small share of those sales.

All these mini deals is a telltale sign that X1X is not selling well enough for MS liking

It is a good console. I have one myself.

This is a good deal too. A great time to upgrade, or get an Xbox One entirely.

@newbpwnr: As a former PC gamer myself I can say there is somewhat of a resurgence it. But overall millions and millions more prefer and game on Console. Including myself now, especially since consoles are/will be so close to PC specs. It's just WAY to tedious, with to many issues. Although I'm glad to see people taking an interest in it again. It was SO dying the last 10 years or so.

@newbpwnr: Show me industry numbers then. Not that I care. :) You don't have over 70 million PC gamers like you do with PS4 (sales)

@bubba_666: steam alone gets roughly the same amount of monthly psn users. 67 million compared to sonys 70 million. then consider that there is a large chunk of the pc market not on steam. fortnite and activision games along with most ea junk. world of warcraft is millions of users in itself. then overwatch and lootboxstiny 2.

@newbpwnr: Convenience gaming is totally taking over at this point. Neither PC or stationary consoles has the brightest future. Mobiles, phones, streaming services, and handhelds are where it's all going, although PC will never go away. I doubt it will remain a focused gaming device for much longer though. We're already seeing a huge shift away from raw power to high accessibility.

@newbpwnr: I have an Xbox one X a PS4 Pro a Switch and a PC .. and to be fair at the moment the PC gets used less than it ever has .. but in all honesty games do run and look a lot better on my PC .. but there is sure still room for the console market!

@ltjohnnyrico: Install "They Are Billions" on that PC aftet work today/tonight... I know you're an action game fan, but this is one RTS that doesn't lack in action! ("Starship Trooper holding the line against the swarm" is a perfect analogy)

@newbpwnr:

lol, its funny you say that. I have a PS4 Pro, a Nintendo Switch, we have 2 Xbox Ones, a regular, and a X1X.

We also have 2 gaming pcs that I built for us 3 years ago. 5820k platform / 4 channel DDR4 16gb / 1TB SSD/ GTX970 Strix / In fantastic Deep Silence 1 cases. Mine has some gaming use, (for certain games, and M+KB specific like RTS, or certain FPS games) However my rig is the heart of my studio, it is ultra powerful, and ultra quiet. Her's is used more for gaming.

We are not corporate loyalists, we enjoy what we want, and each platform has its strengths. Now is not exactly a great time to buy CPUs, or GPUs. So these consoles are great until we upgrade to the new Nvidia GPUs on the horizon. (at a decent price, if we can find them in stock).

BTW, out of all the platforms PC is my favorite. However, that doesn't stop me from enjoying great console gaming. {When it comes to the consoles} Honestly for single player games the PS4 is kinda the king, even though I prefer gaming on the X1X. For a multiplayer platform, and any shooters, the Xbox is the king. The Switch is great as well, it isn't as powerful, but it has some great games already. Third party devs are starting to flock to it. So I don't think console gaming is on the way out the door. I just think the line between console, and pc is getting more blurred. Especially if you look at mid console upgrades, and on the opposite end, steam machines & micro-gaming-PCs.

These quick little jabs, and not so subtle agendas on here are just plain juvenile. If you can't refrain, then move along to another poster.

@newbpwnr: "fortunate" is a myth. Hard study and hard work = money to buy entertainment.

I have all the same systems (minus Switch), and gaming has been there to enjoy after work the whole time.

@newbpwnr: Fortunate. That is funny.

I am adult, with a job, no kids, and find great deals.

The average gamer is between 18-35. If people stopped this evidently detrimental child birth worship, they could afford a lot more.

@misterzeno225: most games dont even require a videocard. intel graphics are more than good enough for a lot of the best games out there.

i wreck faces in fortnite on a core m with 4g of ram.

@newbpwnr: Try playing Total War Warhammer on that. Let me know how the tutorial battle plays out. I've tried it on a "good" Intel integrated. Not playable.

OTOH, for indies (like THEY ARE BILLIONS) and games that allow you to tune way down, agreed.

Fortnite is an unfair comparison -- THE Unreal Engine developers work on FN, in-house. :) Talk about having the inside track on tuning your game to work across platforms!

@newbpwnr: Most games do AAA games do require a dedicated GPU, and they onboard will not do it to a satisfactory level.

If you are are gonna stick with 4gb of RAM, and on board gpu, you might as well stick to console.

@Lach0121: can you stick a console in your backpack and ride a bike 20 miles? and then use that console anywhere you want indoors or out? well the switch maybe but thre were only a few games last year when i bought the thing.

and i love you you definitively say you need a dedicated gpu to someone who has gamed on intel graphics for years. including "aaa" titles.

@newbpwnr: Obviously my standards are higher than yours when it comes to graphics/performance. I did say to a "satisfactory level."

I have nothing against laptops. But if I got one for gaming, I would at least have the foresight to get one with gaming appropriate components.

i get 2 or 3 kills a game in fortnite on my laptop that i didnt have the foresight to get the right components with btw. while at work collecting a paycheck.

go back to your mom's basement with that condescending advice.

@newbpwnr: I don't mean to sound condescending, however your initial comment "consoles are on the way out the door. invest in a pc." was exactly that. Also it was definitive, and not correct.

You can get a decent gaming laptop for $500-$700 if you look for decent deals, or have the patience to wait for holidays.

I don't care about your results of a game you like, on your own rig. I have my own preferences, and standards, as do most other people.

As for your "mom's basement" comment... Really?!? If you are gonna resort to that, I'd politely ask for more maturity from you.

@newbpwnr: Rhetorical non-speak.

That line means absolutely nothing. You know it, and I know it.

Enjoy your laptop, I do not mean to belittle it. However, don't be naive to think consoles are dying just yet. Changing? Yes. But out right dying? No, not in the next 5 years either.

@Lach0121: they have been nothing but gimped computers for the last 15 years. when i first saw you had to pay to even play online with the xbox i knew i would never own one. And they could have been great multimedia pcs long ago but microsoft/sony purposely gimped them. I don't want 8 devices for 8 jobs when 1 can do them all. then came all the "dlc" and now it has infected most of the pc market too.

and just because I have a burner laptop why do you think I can't possibly own more than one computer?

and i use them for more than just games. can your xbox play youtube on one monitor while you play a game on the other? or want to redo your resume? design things? pretty hard to do on a ps4.

@newbpwnr: Once again, and for the final time. Yes, they are changing, I have been saying the line between PC, and console has been blurring for years. However it is not dying. People thought phones would kill the hand held market, yet 3DS, and the Switch have been dominating sales.

I didn't say you don't have another laptop. You implied that, but I don't really care either way.

Certain things you can't do on consoles, certain games you can't play on PC legitimately. I can't record, edit, mix/master on consoles, but my pc is built for it, along with built for gaming.
