Get Battlefield 2142 for 99 cents right now

Amazon currently offering a hefty discount on EA's 2006 first-person shooter; you can also get Assassin's Creed III for $5 today.

Mega-retailer Amazon is currently offering a nice discount on Electronic Arts' 2006 military shooter Battlefield 2142, letting you buy the game for 99 cents. It's not clear how long the deal will last.

It's the Deluxe Edition of the game and the deal is good for the digital version only. Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition--which normally sells for $15--includes the main game and its Northern Strike DLC pack.

You'll need an Origin account to play Battlefield 2142 and the system requirements are listed below. EA is showing Battlefield 2142 some love in Battlefield 4, as the publisher recently released a new Carrier Assault mode for the game, which is an homage to Battlefield 2142's fan-favorite Titan mode.

Amazon currently has some other nice deals for digital PC games, including Assassin's Creed III for $5, Assassin's Creed: Revelations for $5, and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for $5.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> You don't even need a proxy. Myself (Canada) and many others have been buying from Amazon digital for ages, even with a non-US credit card. Just put in a fake US address, I think Delaware will avoid taxes. I don't know if it actually matters as I never tested, but maybe put in as much real address info as possible, then just pick a US state and zip.

So will multiplayer work when Gamespy goes down? I loved this game (favorite in the BF series) and would buy it in a heartbeat but if the online is going down I don't see a point. Anyone know if online will continue?

@hoyholyhoy @pohman To play this on Tuungle or Hamachi since the gamespy servers are being shutdown, Hamachi being limited to only 5 users w/o purchasing it and Tuungle allowing many people to continue playing a game as if the servers never went down through its client.

I hope one day we will see a sequel to this, this is my favorite Battlefield by far. Its Titan mode encouraged more teamwork than any other Battlefield and provided a highly enjoyable experience. Probably the only downside is when you got into servers where it was a complete grenade spam and nobody could push forward, though that was actually kind of fun too.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if Battlefield 2 were next for a deep discount since that's also going to be affected by the gamespy shutdown. I suppose it'll still be possible to play online via direct IP connections, but I doubt that without a server browser most servers will get enough traffic to justify continued operation.

Sad really, Gamespy was an integral part of my online gaming. Guess EA would never put BF2142 on it's Origin servers either.

What's sadder is no more C&C Generals online, only LAN.
