Gigapixel Chipset Powers X-Box?
More information regarding the Microsoft X-Box has surfaced - graphics-card firm Gigapixel will provide the chipset.
GameSpot News has learned that graphics-chip manufacturer Gigapixel will likely provide the video chipset for the upcoming Microsoft X-Box console. Word has leaked out from the company that it will be looking to provide the X-Box with graphics capabilities beyond those of other consoles on the market.
When Gigapixel was questioned regarding the X-Box, a company spokesperson stated that no comment could be made at this time. However, and very interestingly, the spokesperson went on to say that an event is being held at GDC, in which the company will discuss its future intentions. GDC is when Microsoft chairman Bill Gates will announce the X-Box platform.
The X-Box console is also said to make use of a DVD-ROM drive, and it will sport a 4GB hard drive.
