God of War Collection, Ghost of Sparta crush PSN

PlayStation Store Update: Sony adds two Kratos installments to its virtual storefront; action strategy title Hoard, PS One classic Virtual Pool 3 also arrive alongside three new demos.

No Caption Provided God-slaying master Kratos ravages Sony's virtual marketplace this week, as Sony adds two God of War titles to its download space: one for the PlayStation 3 and one for the PSP.

Leading the PS3 storefront charge this week is the God of War Collection ($30). Released in stores last November, the God of War Collection compiles the original PlayStation 2 hits God of War and God of War II, porting them to the PS3 and giving both a 720p HD makeover in the process. The package also added PS3 trophies to the game and included some bonus content videos. While the downloadable version of the God of War Collection will still support trophies, the bonus content and extras from the Blu-ray release of the game will be absent.

Smashing into the PSP hub is God of War: Ghost of Sparta ($40), the latest PSP-exclusive installment in the multimillion-selling PlayStation-exclusive franchise. Ghost of Sparta is the second God of War game to be released on Sony's portable. The title was developed at Irvine, California-based Ready at Dawn, which also handled development duties for Chains of Olympus.

Also arriving in the PS3 storefront is Hoard ($15). From Big Sandwich Games, the action strategy title casts players as a fire-breathing dragon. Players can partake in a number of activities in the title, including burning villages, scorching knights, and taking princesses for ransom, all in order to earn more shimmering treasure. The title supports one to four players and includes cooperative play.

Sony added one PS One Classic to its download hub this week, Virtual Pool 3 ($5.99). The cue sports title features 21 game variations set on eight areas. Players are ultimately attempting to become the pool master in Virtual Pool 3.

Also added to the PSP download spot this week was Ys: The Oath in Felghana ($30). A "reimagining" of the third entry in the role-playing Ys series, Oath in Felghana follows adventurers Adol and Dogi on their quest in Felghana, a barren land fraught with peril.

The final PSP download arriving in the hub this week was No Heroes Allowed ($10). The third entry in the humorous strategy game series, the dungeon-building title casts players as the "God of Destruction," who stops at nothing to protect the evil Badman from the do-gooders.

Those looking to try before they buy can download samples for three titles this week: Disney Interactive's Split/Second, Harmonix's Rock Band 3, and Eko Software's Aqua Panic HD.

Finally, music gamers can download new tunes for Rock Band and Def Jam Rapstar this week. Rock Band welcomes the Doors' greatest hits, as well as one Rush song, and Def Jam Rapstar adds eight new tunes from artists like DMX, Young Dro, and Clipse.

A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the PlayStation Blog.

@dipsetboy17 GOW Collection is a remake(or port?). So technically is a PS3 game, not a PS2 game.
