God of War movie a step in 'bold' new direction - Report

P.S. Having just finished watching the first two series of Spartacus about an hour ago: anything on parr with that gets two thumbs up from me. :-) I think they'll really have to try and avoid comparisons to 300 just because of how borderline iconic that movie is.

The only 'bold' new direction I'm interested in is a good videogame to movie adaptation. Key word: GOOD!

By stepping in a bold new direction, I'm thinking they just mean to add more blood and guts...these are the guys who did those god-awful saw movies after all...Not holding my breath for this to be anything but your typical video game movie made badly.

Well it's kind of obvious it's not going to be like CotT or Immortals since the main characters in those movies weren't trying to kill all of the gods or anything like Kratos is.

C'mon Sony... you're really gonna do this to one of your flagship franchises?

I've got to ask the only relevant question about the movie: Will there be a sex minigame? ;)

Good or bad, nearly every single one of you will watch it. That's why they make this movie.

I'm sure glad they were never so bold as to say that they could or would 'stand head and shoulders "ABOVE" the rest' because it wouldn't be possible for an M game to do so unless it relinquished it's over-coveted status as champion and harbinger of filth. In terms of the movie am just about to vomit as I consider actors debasing themselves to MUCH LESS THAN gods or even mortals to enact the things that neither one would dare in the ancient Greek world, all in keeping with the insane and bottomless appetite for destruction served by the M-content of the game and what is no doubt envisioned for the film.

I would prefer this to be an animation (non anime looking hentai, and with proper frames per second) rather than a movie with actors.

So how will it differ from Immortals and Clash of the Titans? By not sucking?

Super Mario Bros, Horribly failed

BloodRayne, God awful fail

Double Dragon, bowel movements are more entertaining

Street Fighter. Could of been good without Van Damme (Don't remember Guile being French)

DOA, Yeahhhh. No.

Prince of Persia, *sigh*

Tomb Raider, *Yawn* boobs weren't big enough

With great blockbusters like these, I can't see how this film could go horribly wrong

And they're working on the movie idea, it's gonna be in development hell...with the other video game movies.

Sony you desperate, money-loosing, pointless moron! At least let good art stay where it is!

Want to take this in a bold direction? Make it a musical. I'm talking Wagnerian opera-style musical. You give me Kratos plowing through gorgons and satyrs while singing in a rumbling baritone, "I will kill the gods with the Blades of Fuuuuuuuuuury!" - sort of a riff on the Bugs Bunny/Elmer Fudd "Kill the rabbit! Kill the rabbit! Spear and magic helmet!" - and I'm there. Hell, even if the movie is a complete disaster, if they manage to put even a couple catchy tunes in there and somehow stumble into making the whole thing stupid fun, it could still be a massive hit that spawns a Broadway show and goes on to make hundreds of millions.

That's the direction, the only direction, they should go with a God of War movie. Because the last thing we need is another limp, uninspired action/adventure/fantasy film that only makes us wish we were watching 300, The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Spartacus, or even frickin' Krull instead.

They get the guy who makes the crap Saw movies to make their video game movie?

Why bother wasting the money?

It's like saying "Hey, we want to make a new Star Wars movie. Let's get Uwe Boll involved!"

These are some ground-breaking news: the film's writers are saying their movie will be better than the rest. I have never heard anything like that before (<- sarcasm) .

Now seriously, history tell us that video-game based movies are not so good. A lack of new ideas from hollywood is no reason to ruin the success of a videogame franchise

This can be good. The American Horror Story series is written by the person who did Glee. So I wouldnt be surprised if this writer can do something different too.
