God Of War TV Series' Big Shakeup Leads To Great News For Battlestar Galactica Fans

Ronald D. Moore has signed on to be the showrunner for God of War as the series starts over from scratch.

Earlier this month, word broke that Amazon Prime Video's God of War TV series had lost its entire creative team. Now, a new writer and showrunner is in place: Ronald D. Moore, a genre veteran with decades of experience.

Moore may be best known for his work on the 2003 Battlestar Galactica reboot that ran for four seasons on Syfy. He is also one of the primary producers of Outlander for Starz and For All Mankind on Apple TV+. Moore also had long stints on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as well as a short run on Star Trek: Voyager. His other credits include Roswell and Carnivàle.

The God of War video games launched on PlayStation 2 in 2005, and put players in control of Kratos, a warrior who had a deadly grudge against Ares, the Greek god of war. Through the original trilogy and its spin-offs, Kratos took his revenge and briefly became the new god of war before starting a devastating conflict with the Olympians.

Prime Video's TV series reportedly took its cues from the 2018 God of War title, which features a much older Kratos living in the realm of the Norse gods with his son, Atreus. With the creative shift to Moore, it's unclear if that show will still go in that direction, pull from Kratos' original storyline, or something else entirely. Either way, God of War is likely a few years away from debuting on Prime Video.

Gotta start out from the beginning! They'd have so much future source material to work with if it's a hit too.
