the game of the year thing depends on where you are located i believe, because if you ask in Asia, FFXII would take the honors, regardless i like both FFXII and God of War II, not a fan of Gears though, still since most games were actually from the end of '06 not much can be said, i think Halo should have taken game of the year but is wasn't even nominated.

God of War 2 was better than Gears of War...very different games but GoW is distinctive whereas GeoW has competition and similar games...

Gears of war is ok, Im not crazy about it, im not really much into shooters like that, im waiting for mass effect. But Considering 360s are always failing, ive been unsure about getting it, i wouldnt wanna pay full price for something that messes up within a month. But right here, at this site, u can get one for completely an offer. My friend got one and all u gotta do is one of the offers, the stamp offer is the best one, juss cancel it within 4 weeks. Gears of War is so completely overrated, it make vomit rise in my throat everytime i hear someone gushing about how much they love it. But whatever, people can like whichever game they want, no matter how flawed. Still, the credability of the awards are dashed by awarding Wii sports an award.

Gears of War is the Rule, glad that it has been shown unanimously yet again. Though Some of this other information I find rather startling!

If you are blood thirsty and you like tactical shooters, then you will enjoy GEARS. I completed it single player on 'hardcore', then 2 player co-op on 'insane' difficulty. Now I am working my way getting the achievements in online ranked matches.

To all Bashers alike: Gears is obviously a good game, no matter what you say. Look at what it's winning. Its not just the hype; People actually enjoy it. Its unfair to really compare a 3PS and a FPS, too. Halo and Gears are two really great game. Dun get me wrong. But think about it... Gears - November (06) Halo - September (07) I dont think Halo has a fair chance of even getting enough votes in. Gears has had the time to develop and actually get gamers into its multiplayer (through the thicks and REALLY REALLY thins), unlike Halo, which still needs some more getting use to before people are actually into it. When things start rolling. Bioshock? Where is Bioshock?! That deserves a spot there! God Of War winning the Playstation award means nothing. Its just, THAT good. Cant we all just get along? I bet if there werent any kind of bashing on any games and stuff, our lives would be so much more better. Like me; Who doesnt own a PS3 but a 360, yet. I never bash on Sony because, not everything they do is wrong. Just, alot right now, is. Nintendo is owning everything right now. They made me get a DS. MGS: PO deserved something. see, halo 3 is not anywhere near GOW's leauge. it was a great game. And it still getting praise is good. the ps3 did well in innovation. then again MS did not do much innovating, how was the beta of halo 3 on that list? I think most of the choices there are good. and Rockstar did pretty good.

Probably worth noting as well that the majority of awards in the Golden Joysticks are voted for by the public, not a board. So all the more credit to Gears ;-p

Gears is a good game.....though..half the game is in "Black and White" uh? Can't see half way through it. Doesn't deserve best game although great game give it a 9.

Interesting list, though I do have a couple that I disagree with.

Aquageneral...hmm your right about Gears being great its an awesome game and I think it earned a win. I don't know if it was my fav game but it was among them. And people can say halo 3 is a bad game and justify it...anybody who expected a good single player and then was sorely disapointed when they beat it with in a day or 2...if it was a 40 dollar game i would call it good but for 60 + it was nothing more than an expansion pack....the single player is close to being good only cuz of COOP but the only way to play coop is on legendary and even then the game becomes a bit to easy well 2 players on legendary is a good challenging level but 3 and 4 its a cakewalk. so yes i am calling halo 3 a badd game cuz it relyed on its merits that even in the past didn't manage to keep the game off of end of the year most over rated lists on major critic sites such as IGN and GI who by all accounts contain many xbox fanboys for writers more GI than IGN in that regard...so i mean unless it was just bought for its MP campaign i can easily seeing it falling someone between avg and badd though i rated it as good to great cuz it has a great MP though i know of several MP that i actually enjoy more. sooo i wouldn't be so bold in that statement the halo 3 did get a 10 in advertising though i mean this game had close to 20 scores of 9.5 before it was released to the media which failed to mention the short story line in everyone of them and the initially poor UI in the MP, a still crappy story, NOOOO boss battles cept early theirs kinda one. terrible human and flood AI like some of the worst in any game around litterally, crap loads of back tracking in a game that is not expansive at all...i mean 9...an abundance of areas that looke like arenas seperating arenas with a vacant hall way.................should i go on i know i will prolly lose a point for ranting on halo cuz i am sure this will be viewed as flaming by some halo fanboys but its only the truth and its easy to see if you play the game with an open mind....I am a major x360 fan myself Gears great job, can't wait for Mass Effect but i do know of the major shortcomings of halo 3

Tybolt i have to say that nooo your wrong. first of all a lot of xbox 360 shooters and what not are coop...maybe the shaky cam but its been done in other games so i don't know they are the innovators of that just the ones that did it the best, and the grenade deal has been done in similiar fashions in the past once again they did it really well but they didn't like create it. do they deserve to win it year i think so i think deserves it cuz it is fun involving lengthy replayable and challenging which awesome massive baddies with a very friendly interface funnnn game.

Nice outcome, Go GoW, i mean a groundbreaking game should win right. now that many other developers are copying it in theyr own, way Example of what has been taken from Gears o war... ----The runn Shaky cam can be found in EA's Fifa 08 --The grenade throw positioning thing is in Army of two And Developers are making more co-Op games, in my opinion thanks to the success of GOW So Gears of war so deserved all those awards.

Whoever hates Gears does not know what a good game is. Its like saying Halo is bad (though Halo 3 is too much of the same).
