This year's Australian GT Academy events will see entrants play a pre-release edition of Gran Turismo Sport. The qualifying events will select 20 participants to go on to compete at the Australian National Final, which will be held at Warner Bros Movie World. Finalists will be tested using Nissan cars in Gran Turismo Sport, and will also undergo fitness tests, media conferences, and track driving challenges.
From there, the top six finalists will be flown to England to compete against the world's best at the 2016 GT Academy International Race Camp. The winner of this event will go on to the Nissan Driver Development Program, which qualifies them for an International Race Licence.
The events will take place on the following dates and locations. The locations marked with an asterisk will require an entry fee to be paid.
- August 14: Federation Square, Melbourne
- August 26-28: Red Rooster Sydney SuperSprint at Sydney Motorsport Park*
- September 7-9: Warner Bros Movie World on the Gold Coast*
More details on how to enter and purchase tickets can be viewed on the Nissan GT Academy website.
Gran Turismo Sport will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on November 15 in North America, November 16 in Australia, and November 18 in Europe. We recently spoke to series producer Kazunori Yamauchi, who shared six interesting facts about the game.
