Grandia Releases for PlayStation

Sega Saturn's masterpiece RPG rises from the ashes for a PlayStation rerelease.

Comments

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced on Tuesday the release of Grandia, a popular RPG, for its PlayStation console. Developed by Game Arts, maker of the popular Lunar RPG series, Grandia was previously released for the Sega Saturn.

"Grandia is a creative and innovative title with an engaging storyline that will appeal to both RPG enthusiasts and adventure gamers alike," said Ami Blaire, director, product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Grandia's heritage as a classic RPG masterpiece makes it one of the most popular role-playing games in recent history, and it represents a strong addition to our already extensive PlayStation RPG library."

Videogames.com reviewer Peter Bartholow played through the PlayStation version and gave the game a 9.2, calling it, "every bit as worthwhile as Final Fantasy VIII, just in different ways." For his PlayStation and Saturn Grandia reviews, click on the links to the right.

Game Arts is currently developing a sequel to Grandia for the Sega Dreamcast console (and word has it for Sony's PlayStation2 console, as well) for release next year.
