GTA 4 And Red Dead Redemption Remasters Scrapped By Rockstar, Insider Claims

Even up until now I was hopeful R* was just staying silent to amplify the surprise from the big update they had in the works for a year. I will never ever trust or support them again after their recent mistakes. If I knew they were going to do this I would have never bought gold. I wish I could get a refund.

That's too bad. These two are my favorites out of both franchises. GTA IV may have received a fair amount of backlash due to features such as vehicle handling and weapon handling, but quite honestly I really enjoyed that. The characters really appealed to me too. I actually felt sympathy toward Niko and some of the other characters unlike the characters in the other games (Some were fun of course, but I couldn't care less if they lived or died).

So let me get this straight. Rockstar messed up by outsourcing the work to some no-name studio, and now they are punishing their fans because we don't like to be fed shit? Really?!

This is indeed a letdown. Goes to show that Rockstar can't focus on more than one project at a time? While GTA might be a bigger franchise, not everyone who plays RDR plays GTA.

I just recently purchased a PS5 and now something tells me the next RDR title won't be playable on this console since it probably won't be coming out for another three years, if at all.

I was finally able to buy a digital copy of gta 4 a week or so ago. For a long time it was unavailable. This would fit with them cancelling a remaster. Rockstar are greedy pigs. If they remade gta 4 it would have made them a fortune. Instead they were likely going down the budget remake path then realising no one wants a pathetic attempt and a money grab.

Maybe if they did it themselves instead of giving it to Grove Street Games, who just ported the mobile versions, it would have done better.

So now PC will likely never get RDR1 because of Rockstar's bad decisions. Great.

Honestly, probably a good decision. I was hoping for both, but wasn't even willing to touch either until after an exhaustive round of indy reviews. Too much of what R* has done recently has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Bit of a shame because these games wouldn't have needed to be altered the way the Trilogy was. Just increase the resolution, framerate, texture quality, maybe add some ray tracing effects, and that's it. Leave the art style alone

translation: There wasn't a shitty mobile port to use as a base. And we can't lazily put the game through an upscaler. Without gamers getting blisteringly pissed. So, we're just going to not. Okay?! ;)

So basically they are scrapping it because they are mad they can't put out another lazy cash grab? The GTA "remasters" were unpopular because they were largely done by AI without any human review. This caused many aspects to look worse and smoothed out things that weren't supposed to be.

So they scrapped the plans becaus ethey can't screw over the gamers with a simple coat of paint...

This company really went to Sh.

Yep well, maybe don't put out shitty remasters? Put some effort into the product you want your consumers to buy. Otherwise, what do you expect?
