GTA, Red Dead Parent Publisher "Intrigued and Excited" by Nintendo Switch

Speaking today at an investor meeting, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff discussed his company's approach to supporting Nintendo's Switch console. While he did not get into specifics (that's being saved for later), Slatoff said Take-Two, which operates Rockstar Games and 2K Games, is optimistic about the system's potential. At the same time, the executive said the level at which Take-Two supports the Switch will come down to how many systems are sold.

"With any new hardware, there is always an element of 'wait and see,' and the install base is going to drive a lot [of Take-Two's level of support]. We're very intrigued and excited about it," he said during the Credit Suisse Technology, Media, and Telecom conference. "The Nintendo folks I think are making a great effort to reach out to third-party developers, which I think is fantastic."

Take-Two is among the dozens of partners for Switch that Nintendo announced during the console's reveal event in October. The system's announcement video contained footage of an NBA 2K game, though publisher 2K Sports told Polygon that it hasn't committed to releasing an NBA 2K game on the console just yet. Similarly, Bethesda hasn't confirmed plans to bring Skyrim to the console despite being shown during the same montage.

While Take-Two's plans for Switch are being kept under wraps for now, Slatoff repeated that the company has a positive outlook about the console. "I would say we're very optimistic and they're good partners," he said about Nintendo. "We're excited to work with them in the future on it."

Other high-profile Switch publishing partners include Electronic Arts (which is bringing one of its "big" games to Switch), Activision, Bethesda, Capcom, Ubisoft. You can see all the confirmed partners here.

Switch goes on sale in March 2017. The next time we'll hear more official details on the console is January 2017, which is when Nintendo will announce the console's price, specs, and launch lineup.
