GTR back in the driver's seat

sure hope they release this for xbox 360 ..their previous release "race pro" is still one of the best racing simulators on this platform..unfortunately the game suffers from lots of slowdowns though.. if would suffice to fix that problem on their next game for it to immediatly be one of the best racing games available. and please ..60 fps

GTR 3 I hope it will go to PC , GTR 2 is a great sim , It's the only Racing car game I can go back to again and again (4 years), I had Grid, V8 Super cars ,NFS Shift ,F1 2010 and a few others but GTR 2 tops them all, IF GTR 3 is anything like GTR 2 ,I will be very happy ! The only problem is I have Vista now and GTR 2 was XP, still runs ok but lost my Driving school so can't open some tracks ! SO if it does not go to PC I will be F%$K off .I hope it's not too gear up for on-line playing and they don't bring it out on steam ,they should just use the one key rego as steam suck big time.

Also, don't try and tell people that they "Have to cater to the general audience" to sell a product, thats plain and simple BS. Maybe if they want to be the top sellers of the season, but GTR-2 and RFactor don't cater to the arcade audiences, and they both still, 5 years later, have huge followings online. Go to simraceway. com and you can actually win thousands of dollars in full on simulated race seasons, or a few bucks for smaller races, and you can race for free (they will even give you a copy of GTR-2 downloadable for a premium membership of $5 a month which lets you race for the big prize pots). Seriously though, saying that they need to cater to the mainstream more is simply ignorant when you consider gran turismo was considered a "niche" catagory when it first was released and it exploded over time. Back then they said that focusing on realistic handling would bankrupt them while games like ridgeracer were considered the way to go if you wanted to make money.

GTR-3 will be the sim for hardcore racers to get this holiday season. Gran turismo 5 likely won't have serious mechanical damage, definitely won't have real racing rules (actual flag rules/disqualifications). I will donate $100.00 to a charity of choice if it does (I donate anyways, but still..). GT is called a "Driving Simulator" because thats all it tries to simulate, the driving part. People who want a "Racing Simulator" will have to look to RFactor 2 and GTR-3 when they are released. simraceway. com is a good example of the communities that follow hardcore racing sim's, and you can actually compete in seasons of races and win thousands of dollars. I doubt we will see anything like that being officially licensed in GT5, if at all.... I know "clubs" are going to be in it, but thats not a simulated season of races, just an in game "friends" list basically. I want for GT5 to be the end all racing simulation, but thats just not going to happen, especially when the creator is quoted saying he wouldn't want to sacrifice "gameplay" with too much realism... ugh... that just screams "forget realism options and expect standard gran turismo type game". I just hope they at least fix the horrid Ai drivers from rear ending me and running me off the track after they fly through the sand pits like they were tarmac. Real sim people will have to stick to GTR-2/Rfactor/iRacing/Richard Burns Rally/etc for actual simulations of the sport.

@rasterror Cars don't stall because you miss a shift unless you are sitting still.

Hopefully we will get better damage physics and engine overheating to give us that better racing experience imo thats what race pro lacked (150 mph into a wall should put you out of the race not cause a small dent) GTR was far more better on the P.C and probably arguably the best sim ever!

GTR was scheduled to come out for the XBox 360 early last year, but it was removed from Gamestop and Amazon's websites. Looks like the game is on again. This game is definitely more realistic then GT5.

@shinspikes SimBin makes some outstanding racing games. However you hit the nail on the head, you can't sell a game that appeals exclusively to hardcore" racing enthusiasts. You have to strike the right balance between being playable and being "authentic". Notice I said AUTHENTIC and not "realistic". The one criticism I have of SimBin's games is that the "Realism" is at times over done. I don't want to spend an hour tweaking and tuning the tire pressure. I want to do what you're supposed to do in a racing game, and that's RACE. Yes, you can have some of the tuning, but you can't make that more important than the actual driving. Gran Turismo strikes an excellent balance between the two. If SimBin can find the right balance, then they'll have a winner on their hands.

@2Point5RSman First off, I don't like the whole "kiddies". The condescending tone is insulting. Secondly, the "arcade console things" are VERY profitable these days, and have demonstrated that they are more than capable of delivering an authentic racing experience (Forza, Gran Turismo). It would behoove SimBin to delve further into the console market, seeing as the PC market is continuing to shrink on a yearly basis. Mainly because it's far too cost prohibitive these days. I'm a great fan of SimBin's games, however I have to question whether or not it would make sense to buy an entire new gaming computer for ONE game, only to have it antiquated in three months time. Especially when my PS3 will be able to play games over the next five years. No fiddling with drivers, wondering if you have the right video card, or enough memory. Every game works out of the box.

Now this game is the ultimate driving simulator.

This is rumoured to be the new FIA GT1 series game announced a few weeks ago by the GT1 series orgainisers. RACE Pro is still a cracking game, despite its many flaws and imperfections, especially for those of us not interested in car painting and neon lights. If only Atari hadn't become Namco/Bandai, we would probably be enjoying more RACE Pro DLC and bug fixes.

nice to see some developers are learning pc is still a better platform for many games.

Gtr series is most realictic racing games of the world.They need new game engine.And remember Grid and NFS Shift not sim games.

please kiddies, dont compare anything SIMBIN has done with arcade console things. I been playing since SIMBIN was just making mods for EAs F1 sims. If anything SIMBIN trying to tap into the console market has hurt it's games and i'm glad they are going to return to the hardcore sims. The only thing fun for arcade racers is to go online and drive in the wrong direction since it's such a shock to them that they can't drive through the first corner.

Race Pro was quite an enjoyable game for the few people who actually use the brakes in racing games (not talking about the hand brake, using that is for suckers). It was challenging and the rain effects were great. I have to admit though, I can have a tendency to buy underrated and often flawed games (and enjoy the hell out of them). F1 Championship Edition, Race Pro and Tourist Trophy to name a couple.

Why so many people hate on NFS SHIFT is beyond me? WTF? SHIFT is better than that POS Gran Tourismo demo I played a couple months ago. Race Pro was a seriously underrated game from these guys. That game is a great racer. If there next GT game is anything close to the last couple, then I will definitely be buying. Great news!

guim that ferrari game is on wii , and ps2 and ps3,. its called perilli ferarri challenge you wanna get technical ,to the one callin forza a gt copy , gran turismo is really a top gear copy,, that game came on the snes and was the most realistic youd get , pitting etc , ,

Simbin was good before the people who worked on GTR 2 left. Then those people worked on NFS Shift and that was crap :(. I'd like to see that Ferrari project that never came to be instead of all these poor games that were released as "sims" since 2005.

Looks like another racing sim might be out before Gran Turismo 5.... Seriously Poly Phony, have you had enough time yet? Nearly 3 games from Turn 10 since your last entry into Gran Turismo. Hurry the heck up and put some more competition out there!

Oh yeah! now for the real sh*t. @grego I'll tell you why to get this even if you have GT and Forza, those aren't bad games, but this is a realistic sim, those two games are arcade racers by comparison, this isn't for everybody, but it definently has its own merits.

Simbin had a rough start with console gaming. Best of luck to them... They gonna need it.

This game is seriously hardcore. I could never tell if it was too real or exaggerated real. I couldn't get used to this cause I'm too used to GT. Good game though, but then need more content if they wanna keep up. Plus, you just can't sell a hardcore sim to the masses unless you have modes for the casual. Which is why the latest one failed.
