Guardians of The Galaxy 2 Begins Pre-Production
Zoe Saldana gets made-up; Director James Gunn addresses plot rumours.
While most of Marvel's blockbusters are based around established, much-loved superheroes, many were surprised when the less-well-known Guardians of the Galaxy went on to beat the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor at the box office. The sequel is now in pre-production, and star Zoe Saldana has tweeted a picture of her make-up preparation for her role as Gamora:
James Gunn is returning to the director's chair for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2, with Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, and Michael Rooker all reprising their roles.
Earlier this week, Gunn took to Facebook to address a rumour doing the rounds about a major plot twist, namely the identity of the father of Peter Quill, the character that Pratt plays. "The rumors surrounding Quill's parentage at the present moment are completely false, and aren't even close to the truth'" he said. "I don't know how people come up with this stuff, but it certainly isn't through legitimate sources."
Gunn went on express his dislike of sites that reveal plot details of upcoming films many months in advance. "I get the desire to get 'scoops' on character inclusion and casting choices, etc. But since when is a plot spoiler a 'scoop'? Is this really what fandom wants to know?
"I got in this business because I love movies, and I think most film journalists are the same way. And spoiling plot details doesn't add to the enjoyment of the film-going experience.
"We're creating a film that doesn't rely on plot twists to be an enjoyable experience. They're only a very small part of what we're cooking up for you."
Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2017.
