Guardians Of The Galaxy Releasing On October 26 For PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and PS5
After Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix announces another game based on a big Marvel franchise.
Following Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix is staying in business with Marvel with a new game based on Guardians of the Galaxy. As the rumors suggested, this new game is coming from Eidos Montreal, the Square Enix-owned studio behind Thief, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and other big franchises. Guardians of the Galaxy is releasing on October 26 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It's also coming to Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming. Surprisingly, however, it is going to be a single-player game without live service elements.
Guardians of the Galaxy looks to be a mix of the specific comedic, character-driven tone of the Guardians with combat that lets you work together with the team to ravage your enemies. You'll also make story decisions along the way, which the other Guardians will react to.
Eidos Montreal revealed the Guardians of the Galaxy title during Square Enix's showcase at E3 2021. The reveal captured the humor that made the Guardians movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe a big success while also providing a look at how you'll fight alongside Gamora, Draxx, Rocket, and Groot.
You play as Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord, and serve as the leader of the Guardians--so you'll make a lot of major decisions for the team. But what you choose affects your relationships with the rest of the squad, so you'll definitely want to consider the consequences of your actions. After all, who wants a gun-toting murder raccoon unhappy with them?
The reveal also conveyed the kind of bombastic, over-the-top action Guardians fans have come to expect. While you play as Star-Lord in combat, working together with your AI-controlled Guardians teammates is essential--and looks like it'll offer plenty of opportunities for fun, frantic destruction that's right in line with what fans love about those characters.
