Guitar Hero Live Adding 70+ Songs Before End of 2015

More than 70 new songs will be playable in Guitar Hero Live before the end of the year, Activision and developer FreeStyleGames have announced. These will be released through the game's online mode, GHTV, which offers tracks on a rotating basis or on-demand (via in-game currency or real money).

Unspecified songs from the following artists and bands are coming to GHTV before the end of the year:

• Judas Priest
• Iggy Pop
• Leon Bridges
• Biffy Clyro
• Weezer
• Rival Sons
• St. Vincent
• Alice in Chains
• System of a Down
• Bring Me the Horizon

These will add to the existing lineup of more than 200 tracks featured in GHTV.

Activision is celebrating the announcement by giving players free on-demand access to GHTV's entire catalog of songs this coming weekend, starting November 6. In addition, new Premium Shows have been added to GHTV; these are listed below.

• Paramore -- "Monster"
• Blink 182 -- "First Date"
• Fall Out Boy -- "Sugar, We're Going' Down"
• The 1975 -- "Chocolate"
• American Authors -- "Believer"
• George Ezra -- "Budapest"
• Black Veil Brides -- "Heart of Fire (Live)", "Fallen Angels (Live)," and "In the End (Live)"

GHTV Premium Shows are playable by achieving three stars on three different tracks in GHTV or the catalog of existing songs. After one week, Premium Show songs are added to the GHTV on-demand catalog and a week after that, they are added to the regular channel rotation.

Guitar Hero Live launched in October 2015. GameSpot's Guitar Hero Live review scored the game a 6/10, with critic Scott Butterworth lamenting its use of microtransactions in particular.

"Guitar Hero Live's reinvented mechanics makes music-driven gameplay fresh and fun again, and while that's a truly massive and meaningful change for the genre as a whole, the campaign's off-putting presentation and GHTV's unpleasant microtransactions all sour the experience built up around that gameplay," he said. "Still, this successful innovation alone might be reason enough to grab a new axe and rock out regardless."
