jeez i can't see any good games coming out until 2015...oh well at least there's a long backlog for me to go through until then on PC & ps4

Mark my words, the release of Half-Life 3 will sell the most copies of any video game. Valve has designed this from the beginning.

Is all this because of the cryptic Valve ad in PC Gamer magazine? What a coincidence otherwise!

I'm guessing that Valve is privately owned.... and illustrates both the Pros and Cons of being a Privately Held Company. The pros: You can release it "When it's Ready!" and not have to worry about releasing something that needed a few more months of incubation.....you can also take more chances, as you aren't gambling with other peoples money, only your own investment.

Cons: Lack of productivity..... when you have to worry about "Quarterlies", you must either have some stuff in development or at least some signs of progress every 4 months.... people bitch about "Greedy Companies only worrying about their Greedy Stock-Holders", but in the case of Valve... they'd have released many more games/products if they had to appease the "evil stockholders", which would most likely benefit all of us gamers. Then again, maybe their quality would go down the toilet if they had a deadline to meet.

I'm not sure which way I go on this issue.... there have just been a LOT of people bashing capitalism lately and it's really driving me nuts. (as people read this post on a computer that is affordable b/c of capitalism and is as advanced as it is b/c of capitalism...)

I remeber the first time playing halflife it blew my mind back then and still does today, the community was simply the best you can ask for, supporting it with endless awsome mods like sweet hallife which was almost valve quality. One of the aspects about halflife that I like was the fact it set itself different from others shooters by making putting obstacles in your way that you had to overcome in its vast universe. For hl3 I always thought valve would release episode 3 to continue the gordon freeman saga but, halflife 3 would be a prequel that had another character like shepard based somewhere in the time of the seven hour war but hey just an idea. So Half-life your amazingly spetacular world, well thought of enemies and gman would put you as one of the tops games in my book. It deserves a number 3 :D

These boys have got some catching up to do game engine-wise. If they release another game with physics puzzles, fps platforming, linear levels and constant load time stoppages similar to Half-Life 2 and its episodes, it will receive the same review treatment as Duke Nukem Forever did (as that was just a Half-Life 2 ripoff with bad jokes).

And the internet just jized it's pants, even when the smallest amount of info shows up for HL3 happynes starts overcoming everyone.

Anyway i sadly have to be pessimistic about this, i honestly think i won't experience Half Life 3 ever in my life.

Valve already explicitly said they will not make a new game engine after source. Valve doesn't really flip flop....

Any information regarding HL3 is great. Hope is not lost for Gordon Freeman. Really hope HL3 has a co-op campaign. If so..I call dibs on D.O.G. He would be a great tank. Imagine multiple grav- guns where players would have to work together towards an objective. Lifting things with proper balance and timing. Figuring out how to get through an area with teamwork. Oculus Rift compatible..my mind boggles. Gman is devious and one of the most mysterious characters in gaming so one would expect some really intricate "puzzles". An almost open world environment would be great (a total open world HL3 would be too much to ask). Refreshed multi player would be spectacular as well.

I just don't care, half life games were overrated anyway, i never understood why.
