Halo 4 double XP unlocked with Dew, Doritos purchases

Gamers who pick up Game Fuel soft drink and specially marked bags of chips can earn double experience in Microsoft's new shooter.

Halo fans hoping to level up their soldiers more expeditiously in November's Halo 4 can pick up Mountain Dew and Doritos products to earn double experience points, parent company PepsiCo announced today.

Game Fuel is back.
Game Fuel is back.

Beginning October 15, players who purchase Mountain Dew's special Game Fuel soft drink (at right) and specially marked Doritos products can begin entering codes through the promotion's website.

More information on the promotion can be found at the official website. Halo 4 launches worldwide on November 6 exclusively for the Xbox 360. It is a direct sequel to 2007's Halo 3, and is the first numbered entry in the series developed at 343 Industries.

[CORRECTION] An earlier version of this story indicated gamers could customize their weapon loadouts through the promotion's website. In fact, players can only customize their arsenals through the Xbox 360 itself. GameSpot regrets the error.

I don't know about all of you, but I'm planning on buying up a glut of this stuff (mostly Mt. Dew), use the codes, and then whatever hasn't been opened, give that stuff to my siblings, friends, college students or food pantries (if they want more soda). No need to stockpile a year of soda and chips in my pantry.

If you are so worried about being fat, buy the products, redeem the code, give to the homeless shelter, profit?

The superhero comments are overwhelming, in society I don't see anyone making these healthy choices. I do see a lot of coffee and cigarettes. I'm going to enjoy my game fuel and chips. Moderation people, moderation.

Unlike some I think this is smart marketing. The only issue I have is why are there no healthy choices/products that they are using.

I'll at least eat a big bag of Dorito's during my first All nighter of Halo 4. It has been a while since I did an all night game session. But for Halo 4 launch I'll give it a go. With Dorito's (I hate Mountain Dew) so I'll drink cola or coffee.

You people complain and argue over some trivial stuff lol. As for this, marketing as usual. Microsoft always goes crazy with the Halo marketing. I remember trying the game fuel when Halo 3 came out and it was good!

double dose of highly toxic ingredients, most likely with genetically modified origins. But we may never know with our corrupt US government. what a joke. How about rewarding players who eat healthy or make ethical purchasing decisions? I wouldn't even buy them and throw them away. I take seriously how I spend my money and what companies I support, and for the rest of my life will never ever buy a soda or other processed foods again. Too bad the armor won't protect you from diabetes, heart disease and cancer. The poisoning of the human race continues my friends.

@fillup0 It's OK, not everyone can handle the truth. Look at the bright side, maybe you'll develop one of those fast killing cancers later in life from eating a steady diet of GMO-laden food, and you'll go quickly and won't have to suffer through painful chemo or be a burden on society for supporting your stint in the hospital.

*sigh* Ignorance sure is bliss, am I right? =P

Childhood obesity. And who's giving the children these snacks, I wonder?

I'm not really looking forward to the new Halo as I sold my Xbox360 a long time ago, but that being said I have no problem with this. It's a fair way to promote a product, it's optional, you can still earn your levels without it, and it's what a lot of gamers consume already anyway. If we're going to complain about every little promotional effort companies try to make, it just makes us look overly self-righteous and egotistical.

DRINK SUGAR, EAT CHIPS, GET DOUBLE XP!! ALL THE THINGS YOU CRAAAAAAVE! Sorry it made me laugh so i thought I'd share. Images of obesity and Murica aside, it does remind me of a completely false quote that i made up.
