Halo 5 Dev Working on Unranked, Social Multiplayer Playlist
Studio head says lack of social playlist variety wasn't to force people into Warzone.

Unlike previous games in the series, there is currently a lack of multiplayer playlists that can be played without affecting player ranking. Instead, casual play is limited to the new objective-based Warzone mode.
Posting on the Team Beyond forums, studio head Josh Holmes responded to a post speculating the lack of variety in unranked multiplayer modes was intentional in order to push players into Warzone, where REQ packs are monetised.
"There was no insidious motivation behind going all ranked for Arena," Holmes said. "That was the design intent of the team working on that experience. That said, we've heard the requests and we are actively working towards supporting unranked playlists for Arena in a future update."
He continued: "It may seem straightforward on the surface but lighting up unranked play in Arena is not as simple as flipping a switch. TLDR; We hear you, and we are working on it."
Halo 5 launched on October 27, and Microsoft has detailed plans to launch more than 15 free DLC maps by summer 2016. The $1 million Halo World Championship gaming event is also set to begin this year.
Looking forward, 343 Industries has started work on Halo 6. For more on Halo 5, check out GameSpot's review and what other critics are saying.
