Halo Director Clarifies Halo 5 PC Comments
"I was asked a question and gave the same noncommittal answer I've been giving to that question for ten years."
Halo franchise director Frank O'Connor has spoken out to clarify comments he made recently about the possibility of Xbox One exclusive Halo 5: Guardians coming to PC.
In a recent interview, O'Connor said bringing Halo 5 to PC wouldn't be the toughest thing to do. He added, "there is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC."
But now, writing on Twitter, O'Connor provided some more context for that quote.
"I didn't 'mention' it," he said. "I was asked a question and gave the same noncommittal answer I've been giving to that question for ten years."
Another Microsoft higher-up, marketing executive Aaron Greenberg, said reports about Halo 5 coming to PC in time for the Xbox One version's release on October 27 are false. "This is not true. Game is being made exclusively for Xbox One," he said.
As a result of this tweet, another Halo fan asked for a rebuttal after they claimed O'Connor's statement was now false. "No he didn't, he said the same thing I did," O'Connor said. "It's not out of the question, but there's no plan at this time?"
It didn't end there. Read the complete exchange below.
Halo 5 wouldn't be the first game announced as an Xbox One exclusive to come to PC, as Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome first launched on console before coming to computer. Looking ahead, Microsoft has also said that it has not ruled out PC versions of Quantum Break, Scalebound, and Crackdown 3.
Halo 5 launches on October 27.
