Halo Infinite Developer Asks You To "Hold Tight" For News After The Delay
Microsoft knows you have questions, but the company isn't ready to answer them just yet.
Halo Infinite has been in the news a lot lately, most recently regarding the delay of the game's release until 2021. Microsoft also recently confirmed that Halo Infinite's multiplayer will be free, while the game's graphics and Craig the Brute meme have been much-discussed as well. Needless to say, people have a lot of questions about the game and the future of the franchise, but routine updates will not be coming as usual, with 343 working to figure out how it will communicate information going forward.
In a post on Twitter, community manager John Junyszek said 343 understands that people have questions, but the studio is not quite ready to answer them. He promised that 343 will share more details at some point, but right now, the team is busy figuring out the best way to move forward.
"We know there are lots of questions out there, especially in regards to Halo Infinite, but please hold tight for now. There's a lot to work through, including communication plans, but please know we'll share more when ready."

Due in part to the complications related to working from home, Microsoft recently announced that Halo Infinite will miss the launch of the Xbox Series X and release in 2021 instead. It's a big blow for the launch of the Xbox Series X, as it would have been the first time since 2001 that a Halo game released as a launch title for Xbox hardware. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently said Microsoft considered releasing a part of Halo Infinite earlier, but the studio decided against this.
One thing the developer is adamant was not a factor in its delay was the Halo television series in the works for Showtime. Longtime 343 developer Kiki Wolfkill is in charge of the "transmedia" team working on this project, and it works independently of the game teams. It was refuting an earlier report from Brad Sams that the show had become a "distraction" for the studio and was affecting Halo Infinite's development. That report also claimed outside contractors were having trouble co-developing the game alongside 343 and that the game's E3 2019 trailer was outsourced.
Halo Infinite is now slated for release in 2021, but 343 did not provide any clarity regarding what point in the year the game may release. It's been a long time coming, as the last mainline release--Halo 5: Guardians--launched in October 2015.
