Halo TV Series Cancelled After Two Seasons

Master Chief's adventures on Paramount+ are over, but there is a slim chance that Halo can find a new home.

After seven years in development and only two seasons, the Halo TV series’ run is over. Paramount+ has canceled the series after two seasons.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ confirmed the news with a statement thanking the cast and the creative team for their efforts on the show.

"We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward."

The Halo video games rank among the most-popular first-person shooters of all-time, but the series lacked a lot of the spark that came from the original mythos. Season 1 even began to resemble The Mandalorian as Master Chief went rogue to protect Kwan Ha (Yerin Ha). There were also other departures from the Halo canon that did not sit will with fans.

Regardless, Halo Season 2 placed among the top 10 in Nielsen's original streaming rankings with 1.8 billion minutes of viewing across five weeks in February and March. It just wasn't enough to save the series.

According to THR, Amblin, Xbox, and 343 Industries will attempt to find a new streaming home for Halo, meaning a third season isn't entirely impossible. But because Halo is an extremely expensive production, very few outlets will be afford to take it on even if there is interest from major streamers like Netflix or Prime Video.

It just wasn't Halo. They clearly didn't respect the games and thought they could get away with generic sci-fi dressed in Spartan armor.

Two seasons too late...now somebody cancel 343 and maybe let someone who is a fan of Halo universe be in charge for a change.

I'm surprised it lasted two seasons to be honest. I don't know what story they were trying to tell but it was clear early on from reviews that it was not connecting with its fan base.

That sucks, but then again if they could score netflix/prime it would be better. I hope they get to continue, it has been a good show.

Looks like they burned all their goodwill in the first season, and saw the results of that in the second's low watch numbers.

Not surprised.

I’m not surprised. It was kinda boring and nothing like the games.

Whaaaa...

It needed 4 more season of Master chief walking around with no helmet because thats exactly the reason people who have bought halo games for the past 2 decades were clamoring too!!!

Meh... called it, it was a 2 season flop, the writer strike didnt help its chances either.

@s1taz4a3l: Either the lead actor is a complete narcissist who demanded to be able to show off his face throughout the show or the director is a clueless moron who doesn't understand anything about Master Chief's popularity as a character. Possibly both.
