Halo Wars: Definitive Edition Launches Today for Some
People who preordered a premium Halo Wars 2 bundle can play the "enhanced" RTS right now.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, the "enhanced" version of the 2009 RTS, launches today--for some.
The game is included with the $80 Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition, and everyone who preorders that bundle digitally or at retail gets access to the Definitive Edition starting today, December 20. Do that and you'll receive a token for the Definitive Edition; the codes start going out today and are distributed in waves.
So if you don't get your code right away, keep checking back, as Microsoft says it could take 7-10 days for your code to arrive. With your code in hand, go here to redeem it to start your download.
The Definitive Edition, like Halo Wars 2, is available on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. It's an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so buying it on one platform provides access on the other. Saves and achievements also move between systems.

The game has "improved visual effects, graphics, and audio," while people on PC with a supported monitor can play in 4K. The Definitive Edition also comes with all the DLC from the original, as well as a suite of achievements worth 1,500 Gamerscore. Some return from the original and others are new.
You can see a fullrundow of all the achievements here.
Halo Wars 2 launches on February 17 for Xbox One and PC.
