HBO's Last Of Us TV Series Lands Chernobyl Director

HBO's upcoming Last of Us TV series has been coming together quickly as of late. The beloved video game is being turned into a live-action series, and it's now landed Johan Renck for the pilot.

Chernobyl's Emmy-winning director will be helming the pilot episode for HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His previous directing credits include episodes of Breaking Bad, Vikings, The Walking Dead, and David Bowie's music videos for "Lazarus" and "Blackstar"--arguably two of Bowie's best throughout his career.

Renck isn't the only person from Chernobyl working on the Last of Us TV series. In March, it was revealed that Craig Mazin will be writing and producing the TV series. Mazin held the same positions on Chernobyl. The game's creator, Neil Druckmann, will be joining the duo to write and executive produce the series.

Fans have high hopes for the upcoming series, as well as a few demands, like keeping Ellie's sexuality the same as the game. In March, Mazin gave his word on Twitter that Ellie would be gay for the HBO series.

As for the video game series, the highly-anticipated--and long delayed--The Last of Us 2 will be hitting PS4 on June 19. Back in May, publisher Naughty Dog revealed some impressive concept art for the upcoming game, which was featured in an art book that released in late May.
