Here's the first dozen companies making third-party Steam Machines
How many more Steam Machines will we see before the end of CES 2014?
Engadget reports that at least a dozen companies will be unveiling their own third-party Steam Machines at this week's CES trade show in Las Vegas.
Valve will hold a press conference today at 17:00 PT, where it seems likely we'll learn more information about its 2014 plans for Steam Machines, including its own model, and SteamOS.
Each Steam Machine is not bound to conform to a series of specs, dimensions, or price, and therefore the specifications between each box can vary wildly--just like with a PC. iBuyPower's machines, for instance, are reported to cost around $500. The consoles come complete with Valve's own Linux-based Steam operating system, although it's possible to just install Windows on the things if you're so inclined, and the 12 third-parties (so far) getting ready to show off their own Steam Machines are:
- Alienware
- Falcon Northwest
- iBuyPower
- CyberPowerPC
- Origin PC
- Gigabyte
- Materiel.net
- Webhallen
- Alternate
- Next
- Zotac
- Scan Computers
How many more companies do you think will announce their own Steam Machines before the end of CES 2014?
