Here's A Look At The PlayStation Productions Movie Animation That Runs Before Uncharted
PlayStation Productions is Sony's internal division dedicated to bringing PlayStation franchises to TV and film.
With Sony's Uncharted movie now in theaters in the UK and coming to US cinemas this Friday, Sony has now published the new PlayStation Productions animation that runs before the film.
PlayStation Productions is the name of Sony's film business dedicated to bringing PlayStation franchises to film and TV. The slick, Marvel Studios-like animation shows artistic depictions of various PlayStation franchises, including Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, Astro Bot, Little Big Planet, and others.
It doesn't necessarily mean that every franchise in the sizzle will become a TV show or a movie, but we also wouldn't be surprised if that did happen. After all, Sony has said it has 10 film/TV adaptations in the works, and so far, only Uncharted, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, and Twisted Metal have been confirmed.
Is that a new PlayStation Productions animation? 👀

In May 2021, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan outlined Sony's vision for TV shows and movies based on PlayStation franchises. "We will continue to strengthen the experience for our community through collaboration with partners and across Sony Group. One especially noteworthy collaboration is in our ongoing work with Sony Pictures to adapt key game IP for film and TV entertainment with 10 projects currently in various stages of development," Ryan said.
In terms of upcoming projects, Uncharted is next, debuting on February 18 in US theaters. After that will come HBO's The Last of Us TV series, which features Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.
Then there is the Ghost of Tsushima movie from John Wick's Chad Stahelski. As for the Twisted Metal series, we don't know when it's coming but it is on the way from the writers of Deadpool.
Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer might have let slip that a Jak & Daxter movie could also be in the works. What's more, Sony's $3.6 billion deal to buy Destiny developer Bungie might include transmedia opportunities.
